I stayed with it the entire season (The Flash crossover helped a lot), but I'm out on any potential season 2. Unless it gets better reviews and the showrunners step up their game, then I could use it as a summer filler when my other shows go on hiatus.
Some would say that the prior iterations of the canon relied too heavily on power. You cannot create drama if the success of one side is so comprehensively assured. And even if you have the same amount of power on both sides, all you end up with is a boxing match. Zzzzzz. Also, by toning down what many consider a weak plot device (super powers), the amount suspension of disbelief necessary to appreciate the series will be within the capacity for suspension of disbelief of more viewers. The show has problems, but making the Kryptonians less about power isn't one of them.
The George Reeves Superman could fly into space to smash and then blow up a giant rock.
The Chris Reeves Superman could fly into outer space.
The Brandon Routh Superman flew into space numerous times.
(Not even counting his trip to the long dead Krypton)
Too many examples of the comic book superman's adventures into space to count.
Supergirl?
Nah.
According to tonight's show, she loses her powers?
(The sun is still there)
She can't breath?
(See all of the above)
Basically, she is a poor girl's superhero.
Do the writers know anything about DC's superhero's?
The sane guy that runs "Supergirl" Also runs "Arrow". "Flash". and "Legends of Tomorrow". It sees like he has a clue about the DC universe but full disclosure, I dont so I cant say for sure. I wonder if CBS might be meddling in the show direction which is causing all of these plot holes.
Near the end of the season finale, Kat said that Kara had been her assistant for two years. But I thought they first met in the pilot episode. Am I misremembering or was there a time jump at some point?
I hope it gets renewed which probably means that it won't be. My favorite shows have a way of being canceled.
It's a money issue. $3 million per episode for a show with only middling ratings is hard to justify. Besides the special effects, they shoot on location a lot, which is incredibly expensive.
If you'll look at similar super hero shows on the CW, they rarely shoot on location. They use the same sets over and over and over again.
If Supergirl does return, I suspect it will be as a very different show, at least in terms of setting and scope.

I know. It always comes down to money in the end. That's why one of my very favorite shows - 'Eureka' on Syfy was canceled. It was too expensive to keep producing the special effects.
It makes sense to have it on CW but I dont expect it to move at all. I feel like all of this is much to do about nothing. You notice you also havent heard anything about "Limitless", "Code Black", or any other of CBS's freshman shows except "Angel from Hell" which was killed pretty quickly.
