The Prime Time Emmys are bestowed by ATAS. It is peer recognition. Having worked in the entertainment industry, most people that I knew appreciated the career acknowledgement or acknowledgement of a family member by others in their own industry.

Yes, that Singing Nun. She and her longtime companion, Annie Pecher, committed suicide together....fame was too much for her...

I think the tributes should be just that...tributes to a performer's contributions to their craft...not their personal life.

Unless you have a time machine I really don't see what good complaining will do. Maybe next year your favorite actor will get a tribute at the Emmy's.

So much fuss over the lamest Emmy telecast.
I don't think it's bitterness at all. Nor are people complaining. They're (and me) are pointing out a situation that was unfair to performers who had given decades of entertainment to several generations glossed over, when another performer who had little effect on the industry is given a tribute above and beyond those who truly earned and deserved a tribute. It's more an expression of frustration with the producers of the Emmy's, the lack of appreciation for veteran actors, and the sell out to the younger generation who doesn't remember those veteran actors.

My favorite actors better not get tributes in memorium next year, as I don't wish to have them pass on this year, although every one of them is more than deserving of a lifetime achievement award.

So many people have spent their lives in front of the camera and behind the camera. I've spent my life watching the product of their efforts, and while I appreciate the work that a lot of people did behind the camera, I could care less about them being honored in a show that is meant for viewing by people like myself who have never heard of them. They have the technical awards shows for the people that the general public will never know. Why not do the same with the memoriums? That would allow more time to honor the people we do see in movies or TV shows that have worked their whole lives playing bit parts as character actors or what have you.

One that comes to mind is Charle Lane. If you don't know who he was, at least by name, you will recognize him when you see a picture. In my opinion he is the epitome of the lack of recognition by both the TV and the movie industry when it came to the Oscars or the Emmys after his passing. At the time of his death, they were even making a documentary about his life's work, but I don't know if it will ever be completed now.

I watched Glee a couple times, didn't even know who Corey M was. It's a shame he got more attention than the older actors, and agree with most of what Klugman's son said.

Isn't this the same show that completely left Farrah Fawcett Majors out of the In Memoriam just a year or two ago? Now I remember why I don't watch award shows anymore.

I Binged Charlie Lane....quite right, had no idea what his name was but I knew the face immediately! Last performance at age 90 and died at 102! Now that's the kind of actor who should be honored at the Emmy's.

Thanks for the link about the singin Nun, Marcy. My, not exactly how I thought her life would be.
