Netflix's House of Cards gets a nod for outstanding drama marking a first for a streaming only show. And for the second year in a row, none of the big 5 networks (NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, CW) have a show nominated for outstanding drama.

The Emmys have always been, and will always be, a joke. All awards shows are a joke, they really dont mean anything in the grand scheme of things.

I mean, Im a big Game of Thrones fan, and the fact that Emelia Clarke was nominated over Michelle Fairley shows that they dont even care about actual acting talent.

Yeaaahhhhhhh for VEEP (HBO), show and cast. I'll watch just to see if it/they win. VEEP is probably one of - IF NOT - the best comedy on TV this century. No knife left unturned...

I used to not care much for Julia Louis-Dreyfus but this show changed my mind about her. And I don't even get HBO.

I don't even follow the emmys or most modern tv shows. But hearing netflix's nominations....that seems like a really ground breaking moment in the history TV. One of the most amazing things I've read in years.

TV has been dominated for so long by broadcast and cable. For netflix to be on the same stage as them.....seems like a watershed/landmark moment. The new kid is on the block.

The big 4 broadcasting schedule seems enormously archaic by now. Shows in the fall and spring, taking a summer break? I wonder what the tv networks must be thinking about the netflix nominations.

I think a lot of people don't understand how the Emmys (and all other such awards) work: Someone doesn't lose the Emmy award because they had poor performances; they win the Emmy because they had a great performance. The Emmys are based on the performances submitted. A great actress could good performance while a good actress could have a great performance. The best performance wins, regardless of the quality of the performers' other performances during the year.

Maslany and Walton Goggins from Justified were the two worst snubs. Goggins is just superb in the role of Crowder. Maslany probably was snubbed because it's BBC.

'cept its not BBC.... it's BBC America. (As far as I know, it was never broadcast/never intended to be broadcast on BBC.)

Shade of things to come. On the fence about cancelling cable. I can either stream or download copies from the usenet.

The cable companies are already using excuses to throttle internet content because they know if the pipe gets bigger and faster people will drop them and get things a la carte from different web sites and usenet. A video aggregator will be their death blow.

The Emmy people need to get to speed and make sure they have enough members watching net streams to stay relevant.
