My husband and I want to rent a home or apartment and I have found that every home or apartment seems to be managed by a different company. Is their one company I can call that could help me with ALL available rentals? We plan to rent first and then buy.

Thanks

TARMLS is very good. You can also check craigslist to find 'rent by owner' properties not in the MLS.

TARMLS is just the MLS for the Tucson area, not an agency and, anyway, it's only for rental properties that have been put up there. Not every one is.

Unfortunately, this doesn't exist. You can go with a locating service and specify what you want, then they'll do the legwork for you and take their commission from the lessor, but you're still going to miss a lot of properties because many of the best ones' landlords (usually small-time people who do it on the side) will not work with an agent like that.

I thought about starting a business doing this years ago because, as a perpetual renter, it was frustrating how much time I spent not only going through each company but also driving around and looking for rentals that weren't advertised but on a yard sign. I would do it for friends also, and it was pretty taxing.

Scan Craig's List thoroughly, call property managers, and post questions on here. I think that's the best you can do being out of town.

Rental apartments are VERY available in Tucson at the moment. Many places have rental specials like two bedrooms for the price of one, or a month's free rent, etc. Just pick a location that would be a convenient place for you and drive around. You'll find something acceptable pretty quickly. You won't have to look at scads of places as you would in other cities. Many of the complexes have their own websites, too. If you let us know your preferred neighborhood, someone here might be able to recommend a place.

Please list some of the best neighborhoods in town if you are from the Tucson area, it's hard to get some posters to commit to this, even if it's a subjective call it's handy when looking. I'm thinking of moving to Az. and could use some input.

Neighborhoods vary block to block so it is hard to generalize with Tucson proper. Of course, the foothills, Oro Valley, North East side of town are all "nice" areas oh as is Sam Hughes right next to the university.

You'll get a better answer if you specify a preference for city or suburb and any special requests such as must-have bike lanes, must-have public transportation access, must be close to hospitals, university, Air Force base, etc. Remember, Tucson is VERY spread out. Pima County is the same size as the entire state of Connecticut. One man's perfection is another man's two-hour commute.
