Hello,

I have family visiting soon, and we were thinking it would be fun to rent a 4x4 and tool around in the desert or mountains a bit. Does anyone know if there are any rental places near Tucson? Something near cabin rentals would be ideal. I did try googling, but am not having much luck (just found one place in Sedona).

Thanks!

If you do head out to the desert I urge you to travel with no less than one other vehicle. I go out every Tuesday with a group and we rarely have less than four vehicles in our group. One day one of the Jeeps blew a sidewall and an hour later a radiator hose burst on another. It was good that there were plenty of hands to help as we were in the middle of nowhere!

US/Mexico Border. Really.

You may be able to charter a back country expedition, but I don't think you'll find a place around here that rents out 4x4s intended to be used for off-highway use. That business would be a real money pit!
