Can we have a specific example of Paterno. (or anyone else officially connected with Penn State) "attacking the accusers"? At the time the scandal broke, those who saw a media opportunity were falling over themeselves trying to paint any dissenting view as direct sympathy for a pedophile; the so-called "riot" was merely used as justification.

What some of us have pointed out, with no apologies, is simply that the focus of the coverage immediately changed from Sandusky to the Penn State program in general, and it was deliberately tailored to the values of people with a suspicion, or even a thinly-disguised hostility, toward college athletics and its inherent clash with Political Correctness, the New Sensitivity and an increasdingly militant feminism.

Jerry Sandusky is on trial here, but the pressure to put Penn State in the dock continues; and the public has every right to learn more about the forces orchestrating that campaign.

I think he should go to a mental hospital, not a jail. Revenge is not a virtue. I hope his victims can find some peace.

When the first 2 accusers came forth, there was an outcry from Penn State that they were just out for money. It dissolved within a few days. As such, it is incredibly hard to find buried in hundreds of thousands of penn state google hits.

However, it did happen. Then again, most of us are not afflicted by the constantly revising mental history of how you really reacted to the breaking news.

Kinda like how those weren't really students rioting but "others" and much much more.

Yep, gotta support you school....even if you have to rape some children to make the top 10.

Aw....it's the evil media and "nefarious forces" out to get PA state.

Sorry, but I think raping little kids is wrong, unlike what you learned in college.

Maybe in your circles writing love letters to children is ok, but most people find it sick and disgusting.

Thanks for making me vomit in my mouth.

Care to comment on how he got away with it for ages? But hey.....before you do it....let's consider Penn States win-loss record and how much money it brings to the school.

That much? Well....some troubled youths must be sacrificed for the greater good.

A serial sexual predator about whom many knew of his actions ... and to protect the football team and the University they did nothing. The lives of the young people meant nothing to those with authority. Convict him. Send him away for life. Fire the administsrators who knew. Bar the University's athletic teams from NCAA competition for a decade. And make the University suffer financially, really big. Hundreds of millions of $$$ as a signal to the other institutions where I've no doubt similar things happen.

Agreed. Now if people would be just as outraged that the US funds the UN despite knowing about its enabling of child sex traffiking as they are about this slimey pedophile.

A consistent approach to eliminating child sexual predators off the face of the earth would be a welcome change.

A snippit from the testimony of University police who bugged one of the victim's homes as "Coach" was confronted by the boy's Mother:

Quote:
Ronald Scheffler said he and another officer hid in the alleged victim's home where they listened as the mother confronted Sandusky about why he showered with her son. Scheffler said he heard Sandusky say "I wish I could ask for forgiveness. I know I won't get it from you. I wish I were dead."
