Dallas owes a lot to Fort Worth. Houston owes nobody nothing.

Its like comparing Chicago to the Bay Area. Houston being Chicago, D/FW being the Bay Area. Without Oakland & San Jose to pick up the slack, San Francisco would be nothing.

Even Austin of all cities is building taller than Dallas these days & will soon be larger.
How is that a lame excuse? Love Field is one of the main reasons why uptown is so short.

Also, Austin still has a long way to go to catch up to Dallas.

Also, yes most Dallasites know that houston has a larger skyline, no need to keep on reiterating it.

I remember back in the late 90's when the World's tallest skyscraper was proposed in The Colony of all places by a nutty religious cult. Needless to say it never came to fruition, but it does show that North Texas could build taller if it really wanted to. Turns out they never had the money to buy the land much less build the World's tallest building on it.

No indeed. But the world's widest furniture called the Nebraska Furniture Mart sure did come to fruition on that land. Is no indeed a proper phrase?
Anyway, that thing and everything being built up around it is predicted to attract 8 million people! Better start putting your boots on and your butt in gear because that particular area of far north Dallas is going to be the most spectacular shopping district on the planet when everything gets finished, even by Texas standards. Much much wider than downtown Houston.

Dallas is going to sprawl all the way to the Oklahoma border in the next 25 years. I wouldn't be bragging about that. At least Houston isn't sprawling towards another state that dislikes us. It has plenty of room for the next 250 years to continue growing north & west as it has been.

That's the reason I like to refer to North Texas as Baja Oklahoma.

PS

D/FW on a map looks like an upside down penis with testicles.

Nothing but a beautiful little town, with iconic architecture, and a golden bridge to nowhere.

Five skylines of the dynamic core that is central Dallas:

Southwestern Medical Center / Dallas Market Center
Turtle Creek
CityPlace
Uptown Dallas
Downtown Dallas

If all these districts weren't in the process of growing together, I wouldn't make this argument. But two major hospitals are being built in the Southwestern Medical District stretching the Stemmons Corridor all the way east to Maple Avenue. The Maple Avenue corridor itself is experiencing a boom which runs from Love Field into Uptown. The same is true of Turtle Creek, CityPlace, Uptown, and downtown Dallas. So they are all in the process of filling in.

The image below shows the continuous flow as Turtle Creek is the older and more mature of the skylines in the area of green in the forefront, downtown Dallas is at the back of the photo, and Uptown is in the middle between the two. CityPlace is at the left of this picture and Maple / Dallas Market Center / Southwestern are off to the right of it.

While you band of Houstonians look at your pitiful rebellion of a skyline from the outside, the more fully operational and immense skyline of Dallas has to be appreciated from the middle point of view of Uptown Dallas - the new dynamic downtown of Dallas!

That link has photos that are about a decade old, too.

I'm so proud to be from Dallas.
