Indeed. Is this the skyscraper thing or the upscale shopping thread? I'm getting them confused. Houston does have more chefs from New Orleans and it does tend to have more of the independent off brand restaurants.

Here is my guestimation in the office space of what is central Dallas:

Downtown Dallas - 28 million.
Uptown Turtle Creek - 12 million.
Stemmons Corridor - 10 million.

I don't include the office space in Preston Center and along Central because it isn't continuous. In other words, Stemmons is and always has been a business district because the huge area it encompasses has very little residential. As it stands now, because of the development of Uptown, the business within the Stemmons Corridor is now continuous with Turtle Creek and downtown Dallas.

Therefore, the central core area of Dallas has about fifty million square feet of office space. The large business area I mention is very conformed and about the same size as Manhattan Island as it can be seen easily from space (Or the satellite map of Google).

Oh, please. So everything we do is done to compete with Houston?

Keep dreaming, brother.
I'm wide awake with the truth bro', but we ALL know Dallas can't handle the truth/reality....do you hear that LOUD CRASH?! It's fake pretentious Dallas' fantasy dreaming against Houston being shattered by the truth. Wake up!!!

That Dallas IS NOT on Houston's level in any regard, and you're wasting your time...time that would be better spent competing with those in Dallas' league: Philly, Phoenix, San Diego, San Antonio.

Houston has several.

Speaking of Asian restaurants, Houston's Dim Sum is 1,000 times better than Dallas' & can be eaten any day of the week, not limited to weekends like in Dallas (Richardson).
Dallas wishes it was the 'mecca of shopping' in the Southwest and beyond, but that notion dried up and died when:

Saks Fifth Avenue (Closed all 3 locations)
Bloomingdale's (Closed)
Giorgio Armani (Closed both locations)
Barney's New York (Closed)
Etc...They all peeked behind the curtain and saw Dallas is a phony, fake, pretentious hype-ster.

All Dallas has left is NM (1 really good one NorthPark, and 3 other weak ones B/C level).

Dallas has the slight edge in shopping thanks in part to Fort Worth, but Houston isn't that far behind the both of them combined.

Its not like a night & day difference or anything & its not like the internet doesn't exist where you have a whole wardrobe the click of a button away.

As I stated previously, Houston blows Dallas out of the water when it comes to dining options. Simply no comparison there just as there is no comparison with the skylines of Houston & Dallas + Fort Worth.

Getting back to skylines...

Houston has an actual Skyline District with one of the largest clustering of skyscrapers in the US. Its like Houston's miniature version of Midtown Manhattan.

Dallas has nothing comparable to that.

Indeed, but Dallas has five clusters melding into one. Houston has nothing to compare to that. Oh, Pasadena does have a skyline of oil refineries that comes close. And Houston does have that very impressive skyline created by Annheuser Busch and its brewery.
And then there is antenna farm out in Missouri City:

Missouri City Towers
