Esperson????
Penzoil?
Gulf?
Chevron???

Plus there are other quirky buildings like the wedge building.

I don't think Dallas has Houston beat at all.
If you are talking about the five tallest in each city, then maybe.

But for the number of styles, Houston wins

i just got done saying how similar Chase Tower is to Heritage Plaza.. dont say Houston doesnt have that style. im sure Houston has similar buildings to some of those others as well but i dont know them well enough. one could say Houston has styles that Dallas doesnt have...?

Penzoil Place apparently helped start the postmodern movement so that "unique" style Fountain Place has is all thanks to a skyscraper (or two, however you want to look at it) in Houston, which is arguably more unique.

Mercantile looks like cotton exchange or another building on the South

Yes to all.

Republic center is just a box with a funny thingie on the end.
Adolphus looks like cotton exchange or another one on the southern end
Magnolia is just rice hotel with less features, or that other hotel they just demolished look similar too.
Mercantile looks exactly like a converted building on main, dunno the name.
