Love the pictures! However, DFW just looks weird. I guess it's the short trees.

Its just like looking at a larger version of OKC or any other Great Plains city for that matter.

That's just what it looks like in the Spring time. In the Summer that grass turns straw color & will easily start a grass fire.

I bet some nice tall pine trees would look nice on DFW's rolling terrain.

It's only like that during a drought.

My cousin had a grove of them in her back yard in East Fort Worth & there are some lining the east side of I-35 in Lewisville, but its pretty rare to see that many pine trees in one place in North Texas. My guess is those particular areas were either seeded or planted decades ago because those trees are pretty tall.

Pine Trees really don't do well in our clay soil. Trees like Pecan, Live Oak, Magnolia, etc do very well in North Texas.

Here in Alabama, we have clay soil, and we have a PLETHORA of pine trees. Maybe DFW's clay soil is different than ours.

I think it is. One of the gardeners at the Dallas Arboretum told me that.
