I like your new word, annoynomous. It's a great way to describe computers, but we still all sit behind them. Go figure.

Must you have names? Departments? How in depth does your inquisition go ?(apparently I must meet a quite high standard to satisfy you).

Quite annecdotal don't you think? Can you copy and paste that article here or give me the direct link? Not that I don't believe you ... !

Nice challenge! I want to see you show me some statistical evidence of the conservatism of professors across our great nation and their dominance of our bastions of higher education!

You might start here:
The Liberal (and Moderating) Professoriate :: Inside Higher Ed :: Higher Education's Source for News, Views and Jobs (found this in a quick 5 minute search ... neutral origins I might add).

Oops ... that one won't back up your ideas ... but I have faith in you ... time to put up or ...well, you know!

You still haven't named anyone - as for McCarthy I read his writings and can name the author. You linked an article but you said SOCIALIST and I suppose I'd be wasting my time trying to explain the difference between LIberal and Socialist.

Why not just have the integrity to admit you don't even know one Socialist Professor in your entire state? If you can't be smart you can be honest.

-----------

On the bigger issue I see all these rallies and towns, cities filled with excitement, people meeting their candidate whether its McCain - Obama or perhaps one of the VP candidates. Volunteers are going door-to-door and we are getting none of it. Some I wouldn't want - I hate robo-calls, but the other stuff choosing a president - in this election is fascinating. Guess I can watch it on tv.

The moderate conservative values of Texas politics (with a mix of Southern Democrats who tend to be very moderate) has created a very good situation in Texas.

1. The Texas economy is still growing, despite most states being in recession.
2. Millions of jobs have been added in the last few years in Texas, and the job growth is still happening.
3. The State of Texas has a balanced budget. I repeat, the State of Texas spends less than it takes in and doesn't have to borrow from the federal government to make payroll, like New York and California have had to do recently.
4. The real estate market, while it has been slowed down, is NOT in the deep doldrums that are killing the rest of the country.
5. The Texas economy, with a business friendly environment, has DIVERSIFIED with a large amount of non energy companies now residing and having a stron presence in Texas. Examples: Dell, HP, TI, and IBM (all IT companies) have either their corporate offices in Texas, or some of their largest concentrations of employees.
6. While we have property tax and sales tax, Texas has NO state income tax and ranks at the bottom of the nation for overall tax burden on its citizens.

I believe the key, for the most part, is that Texas politics, whether left or right leaning has always tended to be MODERATE.

Austin - one would need more than a name- "joe the plumber" but the point was Bob Tex was making a foolish accusation just like Joe McCarthy did- in 24 hrs all he could come up with is an article from an east coast journal that referred to liberal - depending on what poll you read 25-30% of the country calls itself liberal. Far Different from Socialist. Hell there may be a socialist or a Nazi professor among the 50,000+ Texas professors - and this Dana may have his head in a Red Cloud that isn't the point.

On the main subject of contested elections not only don't we have one for president but only ONE of our congressional races is considered close - that's Tom Delay's old seat where Lampson the Dem is likely to lose.

Today no matter which side you're on there's going to be history. Some states may have 90% turnout. We will watch all the excitment on tv - and have no better vantage point than people in Europe or Australia.

Ocean,

I don't even know one socialist professor in Texas ... for whatever that is worth. Doesn't change things. Your charges and challenges are empty!

Most libs are anti capitalist and pro socialist ... we're in the process of electing one today as POTUS. Are the terms interchangeable ... not exactly but most of the time it covers both groups.

You are wasting your time with your annonymous bravado hiding behind your keyboard for sure, if you are worried about wasting time. But you're wasting more than time (which doesn't seem to bother you) sitting there with your bong!

I'm done with this pizzing match with you. For sure I have more to do than screw with you and your annonymous courage!

But youy ned to look at the democratic trend in thsi country/ While the last congressional elction showed that bluedog democrats won the new seats;the national party went the 09st liberal democrt for president. Look at just who backed him as he didn't get there by hinself;basically the kennedy democrts. I can rememeber in teh 60's when Texas was a demoicrtic state, Whi9lke New York got $1.70 back foir every dolar they sent to washington ;Texas got back 65 cents. As long as they left the good ole boys crooks alone then the demcrats didn't care. I am sure your very aware of this being from south Texas.
