Assuming the education correlation is correct (I have no idea and don't really care, but I have heard it before), the question is WHY is there the correlation. The insinuation is that the more educated you are, the more likely you are to support Obama. This same topic has come up recently, and the argument was put forth that the more educated you are, the more likely you are to have more money in the bank and a more secure job. The lower the education, the more likely you are to be dependent on the immediate nature of the economy and the continued health of small business.

Another argument was that the lower education level corresponds to a higher percentage of native Texans, since it could be supposed that HS drop outs don't tend to move around the country as much (how many CA droppouts have moved to TX lately?), whereas the graduate level education represents a much more mobile workforce. In this case, it would be more of a geographic leaning than an educational.

You could come up with a variety of other reasons for the correlation, but those are just a couple. I firmly believe in the rule of "lies, damn lies, and statistics" .

Then what exactly ARE you saying? Both of your examples,ie no campaigns come here and LBJ gave projects to Texas, are based on your belief that voting conservative hurts us.I've asked twice now what your solutiuon is,and I'll ask a third time. What's your answer? How do we become a electrorally competitive state if we don't vote Dem and give them hope next election? How do we get Obama pork if we don't vote Obama in?And if the vast majority of the state wants to vote conservative ,then how do we accomplish wooing the Dems and Obama without expecting people with conservative convictions to change and vote Dem just to repair the flaws you see with our solid red state? How about some answers from you?

Just goes to show, anyone can can have the wool pulled over their eyes.

A weak-minded person, regardless of their education status, can easily be influenced and coerced by the mind set of those around him. A strong-minded person, regardless of status of education, will listen to the opinions of others all the while paying close attention to the subject at hand and after doing their own research and filtering through facts and rhetoric will indeed make up their own mind.

I have sat through far too many overly 'educated' discussions that absolutely entered into another realm to be properly impressed by the higher education system in our country. Do not get me wrong, I am not slamming higher education by any means. I am saying common sense is the key word here and the individual ability to use one's own mind to draw conclusions. That being the case, the additional higher education in the form of 'book learning' is a desirable and worthwhile asset, but not to be confused with a mass conscience.

Possibly indoctrinated by socialist minded professors in our institutions of "higher" learning. And being unable to develop common sense in a structured education environment built to develop conformist ... well, they conform to their socialist education.

I would consider your observation of this astute!

BTW, where did you get your data on this little gem of info?

BOB TEX let's see you back up your accusations. List us just a few of these "socialist professors" teaching in Texas.

Start with A&M, Texas Tech, UT, SMU Baylor Rice - let's see your evidence. Sounds like what Joe McCarthy used to do in the 50s ( Communists in the army!).

The last time I read the A&M paper The Battalion their survey had most students on the conservative right. When they played the University of California in a bowl game the Battalion made such a big deal about this being a battle between conservatives and radicals and they predicted A&M 74 Cal 0. In reality Cal had as many or more young Republicans registered as Dems and the football reality was Cal using 3rd and 4th string late in the first half on the way to 45-10 victory.

I want to hear about those radical red raiders lol and bust those reds at Amarillo College too

So BobTex you can make your accusations behind an anonymous computer, but here's your chance to come out of the closet and list some names.

Put up or ......

ocean2026, I,too, would like to know where you're getting your stats that you're using. (Note the football ones, the ones that seem to indicate that all of the voters told who they voted for and what their educational status was. Those statistics.)

Why limit it to Texas? The point that was made was that higher education in any state would make someone more likely to vote Democrat. So all schools are fair game.

And you only have to look as far as Obama's memoir to find out that Obama himself hung out with Marxist professors at Occidental College and attended socialist conferences at Cooper Union. So I doubt that Obama would share your skepticism that socialist attitudes are common in higher education.

Being a red state doesn't hurt Texas at all. Following the lead of these so-called "Republicans" will hurt as at some point. Hopefully the Ron Paul types can somehow take over.

Texas Horse Lady go to real clear politics. com and do the demographic cross tabs on any of the major polls.

Austin I asked him about Texas professors as he lives in Texas and the same educational data is true here. He should know about his own state. Doesn't seem to matter as he hasn't found anyone yet.
Pot meet someone who is smoking too much of you.

Crb - Ron Paul would be great - I voted for him in the GOP Primary.

I am such a bad boy!

Step away from the bong for a while and let your thoughts clear and you may, not for sure because I don't know how fried your brain is, but you may see the reality of my post .... not the illusion you posted on! The only accusations seem to be your's against me. That ol kettle and pot thingy ..."pot" not ganja!

Did I actually accuse anyone of anything or just offer up a possible theory or explanation(s) for folks to see?????????

Another possible error in your deductions from my post is the fact I believe the OP (bresilhac ) was speaking more on a national scale. We know President Barry O won't be elected from Texas ... so throw out your claims on Texas college students ... we all know most are cut from a bit of a different cloth from the rest of the nation's college skulls full of mush!

You seem to be spoiling for a fight ... an annonymous computer fight!

Go take a chill pill!

I was just surfing for a mail order AR 10 and another thousand rounds of ammo and dropped in ... time for me to shop more! God bless! I think I like the Bushmaster AR's BTW! A really good value!

Annoynomous computer ... who's sitting behind an annonymous computer ... well, I'll be ... we ALL are!
