Yep. Sort of embarrassing how us Californians reacted

Right. I was in Texarkana then and it literally felt like hell. I think the peak temp was 112 and had more than 40 days over 100. Here in Belton this year the peak temp was 109 and had 49 days over 100 so far. Out ten day forecast calls for temps over 100.

I've been seeing the birds panting as they will fly around with their beaks open.

Well, to be honest, I knew this was coming. Doesn't make it any nicer.

I'm so excited because the temps are forecast to be below 100 for a few days next week! Still upper 90s but hey, it will feel great after 107 and 109!

9 days into September and the heat keeps coming with a "feels like" temp of 112 yesterday in Austin. Unfreakingbelievable. Cold front coming in next week....we'll see.

P.S. I believe we are only 9 days away from tying the all-time record in 2011

Yeah, although 112 is a bit abnormal. September and early October is kind of Austin's jinx month. Austin doesn't really start to cool down until late October.

Im not really concerned about temperatures at this point, I just want rain. I almost would kill for a Hurricane like Idalia to hit us head on.

Well, surprise, surprise, I woke up last night to the blessed sound of thunder and rain, and the sight of tons of lightning! Today's high is supposed to be only in the mid 90s, which is LOW to me so I'm super excited! This after yesterday's bit of rain, TINY bit, while the sun was still out. I was not impressed! But last night's storm did impress me a bit, I admit it.

My Brit friend who lives in Cirencester, UK is complaining how hot it is there…..86.
Of course no A/C, but their mornings are pretty cool…. in the 60s.
At least they have a real cold front arriving next week to drop temps by 20 degrees.

Low 90s here next week with a breeze will seem pleasant.

Admittedly I feel for her. When I was in Seattle we also had no A/C so when it got into the 80's or higher it was a pretty crappy feeling, especially when you tried to sleep.

Texas power prices soar 20,000% as brutal heat wave sets off emergency

Clearly this is like the Griddy situation, but does make one take notice.
