I've been using the Sunpass Mini for over a year now and have not had a single problem. Once my account even went into the negative (I did not receive a low balance notification) and upon realizing the $7.99 debt, I simply refilled the account and the debt was taken care of automatically.

No fines, no tickets, no points, nothing.

i noticed that they changed the portable sunpass to something that does not "beep" and does not use batteries. Is that one good?

Are there no more of the old ones for sale?

I recently was visiting FL and passed through an unattended toll with a rental car - dollar bill in hand with no place/person to give it to. I took an envelope but now have to pay 94 cents plus the cost of a check for a 50 cent toll. Frustrating!!!

I had to pull over to the side of the road after picking up the envelope (which fortunately there were a couple left) to read the instructions on the envelope and record the date and time of the toll. I am very concerned that the rental company might receive the violation. I recall the car rental agent telling me about someone who passed through 5 tolls without paying and the rental company was charged $500 in fines. The rental company put those fines on his credit card.

Also, I wonder how someone who is not from the United States but is driving a rented car handles this situation? He might have a difficult time figuring out how to pay the toll from some other country even if he did take an envelope each time. Seems like a very poor system and not inviting to visit Florida.

I'd call their toll-free number and ask them - they're pretty good with assisting you. Might take it out of your credit card instead of sending in your toll.

I have the regular sunpass that works on batteries. How does the mini-sunpass work without batteries?

I drive a Porsche convertible and the windscreen is very small. I can't stand annoying stickers or objects blocking my view, so what I do is simply hold up the sunpass device whenever I need it (a few times a month). Works well. I can't believe people leave those things on the windscreens all day.

Mine is bottom right of window. You don't even notice it.
