Rickie was so close, what a great performance to go get that birdie on the last hole. Congrats to Reed, he earned it
The game would get a great boost if Rickie win some majors. Big following younger generation, women fans. He's been a marketers dream and winning The Open and The Masters would make him even more recognizable.
If there are any books or reading materials or anything you all could suggest I read to have topics or subjects to talk to him about or books he might like, please share.
Thanks all!

I don't really know any books on golf, though Nicklaus' books are supposedly very good. I would point you at some videos though. Bobby Jones' series How I play Golf. Those are very interesting. A link to one below.
It will be interesting to see what, if anything, Reed does next, over the next few years.
There are definitely those former Masters champs that win it and you never really hear anything much else from them: Charl Schwartzel, Trevor Immelman, Mike Weir, Danny Willett, etc. OK. maybe it's just the non-US Masters winners that seem to disappear!
There was an article recently that talked about this - albeit The Masters has the least "one-hit" wonders compared to the other three majors. The disclaimer to that is that some of the multiple major winners on the Masters only won the Masters (meaning they won it more than once, but no other majors).
In the end, flukes will always happen in individual sports. Not taking credit away from Danny Willett. But his win is partially due to the collapse of Speith.
I think it's a bit early to count Reed as a "one-hit" wonder.
Anyone know the story about the apparent hatred between Patrick Reed & his wife vs his immediate family? I've heard a few snippets, maybe gossip who knows?
I didn't see any tearful hugs from a mom or dad figure when he won...that is usually a given.

Yes, that's been pretty public over the years - or at least somewhat public. I don't know all the details...GolfWRX forum probably has a thread (or more) on that subject.
I remember interviewing a course pro years ago for a local golf feature in the newspaper.
I said something to the effect of "I'm not very good at golf" - I've never played 18 holes shooting under 120 or so.
He's like "I'm not very good either, just barely good enough to be called a 'pro'"
A "golf pro" is a generic term. Club pros are more teachers/promoters. Not taking anything away from them, but it doesn't automatically mean they are a touring professional. Same with Tennis Pros.
