I think Aussie Rules is harder on the body than NFL, but I see a lot more of it obviously.
Basically people underestimate how big the hits actually are. Many times they are at full pace which more than makes up for any difference in strength.
Add to that.. players are having these impacts after 100 minutes of gut running that sees a lots of them clocking up 8-12 miles in a game. For me aussie rules is a brutal sport on the body and I don't think any other game compares.

I think you're probably right. I've never watched an entire ARF game, so I don't know how often the action stops. But you're right in that football has a lot of breaks in between plays, so stamina's probably not as much of an issue.
Those hits in Aussie Rules look hard. You can tell a lot of guys leave those games with broken jawbones. The fact that they don't have any protection is ridiculous. But would I rather play Aussie Rules or catch a pass across the middle against the Baltimore Ravens defense? Hmm...that's a tough one.

No the action doesn't stop.
The only stoppage is about 1 minute between goals scored, (allowing for commercials) then at qtr, half-time & 3 qtr time.

I need to get caught up on both. Obviously, I'm not checking this thread again until after I watch. Somebody is going to spoil it, I know it.
haha seeing you're not checking ... I'd rather poke my eyes out then watch that grand final again (2nd one)
