Apparently a few people do, euro names upset them.
Teams from all over the world steal names from other continents. Teams in the same country copy eachother. It's not an MLS trend or anything. This has been going on for over 100 years.
If some teams in Europe stole their names from eachother, I don't see why they'd be upset that we're doing it, too.
I can see why it's a bit annoying, but it's time to get over it. And if somebody can't, they should ignore MLS. We're doing just fine without Euro snobs.
I know its not an MLS trend. The only names I dont like is Real Salt Lake because Real is a name given to you by the king of Spain, not just one you take and Sporting Kansas ... not because of the name but its because they change their name every two weeks.
Its not people from all over the world upset at US teams taking Euro names, its Americans upset that theyre taking "Euro" names. This is America, use American names like Dallas Beltbuckles and not FC Dallas because its too Euro or whatever.
I am a Euro snob probably, maybe ... I dont know. I was born and raised there and am only in America 10 years. Am I still qualified as a Euro snob ? Like I said, the only people who have a real problem with FC Dallas, Toronto FC is Americans because the names are not American.
This type of thread pops up here all the time, when this dies and goes to page 2 somebody will make this exact same thread again. The best I can do is throw sarcasm at it because its been beaten to death already.
I don't know about you guys but Salt Lake or Utah Beehive sounds like an awesome name.
And the Chivas USA name change could change to Los Angeles Aztecs, a nod to the former NASL team.
I agree. That would be so cool. The NASL had the Seattle Sounders, San Jose Earthquakes and Vancouver Whitecaps then and now these names are used in the MSL. Here's some history of the NASL:

No, you need to complain more and start being more obsessed with the United States.
Can I just wear a 10 gallon hat instead and call it even ?
sure that'll work
