We've been over this a million times, but I'll just point out some things.
Look, for one thing, several of the names are "Euro-copy" so they can appeal to Euro-Football snobs and American hipster soccer snobs currently living here.
Real Salt Lake is the dumbest damn name for ANY sports team regardless of what sport. Period.

Agreed. In the end they do what every sports owner does, ties to get fans to spend money on their product...but i would think something other than real or sporting would makemore money.
I'm just pointing out a fact. What some people are calling "traditional football names" in Major League Soccer just comes off as goofy, lame, or simply just trying too hard to be something that they're not.
San Fran St Germain would be cool, nobody likes the French anyway. Of course youre talking about renaming a 100 year old team which is not the same as new MLS teams when they were named.
My rugby team London Irish is playing London Welsh then after that Exeter Exiles. You don't see rugby fans crying about American style names ...

Something they're not? Like a football team ? I guess ill just never get Americans obsession with having things done their own way else it's lame ...
...what?
Look, if you're going to have a club in this country, create your own identity and stop trying to steal someone else's. These are MLS teams, the majority of which aren't even 20 years old yet, not Euro football clubs who have been around for more than a century.

Better than "FC Dallas"
Real means "royal".
They're both dumb names, but when you think "Utah", does ANYTHING of royalty comes to mind? I'm sure if more people here in DFW actually cared about the team, there would be better input on the name.
