For what it's worth, I liked Carl's Jr. much better when it was exclusively a California chain. It seemed to lose a lot of appeal when they exapnded all over the west, and merged with midwest/south Hardee's...(though Hardee's has a slightly different menu)

Fatburger has a few Seattle metro locations, but to me are just a glorified Red Robin. Great taste, but not exactly a take-out friendly place. They want you to sit down, order over-priced food and drinks, tip their waitresses, and move on. You can order for take-out but you really get the sense that isn't what they do.

I forgot completely about Five Guys Burgers and fries. Fairly new to the Seattle area, being DC based, but they're right up there amongst the Kidd Valleys-Burgermasters. Real good for the price, and awesome fries.

<<When you go public, you open yourself up to a whole new set of pressures you have to follow, and I think that might change the unique culture of In-N-Out. Look at Krispy Kreme. It had a huge fanbase, and people were clamoring for more locations across the country. So Krispy Kreme obliged. It had an IPO in 2000, and it was very successful. But then the chain started rapidly expanding, and soon you could buy Krispy Kreme doughnuts in supermarkets. It just wasn’t the same product. There are so few “real deals” left, and In-N-Out is one of them.>> some smart chick who wrote a book. As a former ballard resident, I do miss Dick's... mmmmm dicks.

Default In-N-Out in Roseburg?????????

I live in Eugene. There was a commercial on the radio the other day and the announcer was talking about the top rated fast food chain, In-N-Out, and said now when traveling down I-5 to CA we could stop off at the In-N-Out in Roseburg. Anybody confirm that? I'm going that way in the next week or so and would definitely KILL for an In-N-Out Burger (absolutely my favorite).

In and Out is superb, and has especially good fries. The only place I've had a better burger was Sonics, but I only went there once, so it's hard to judge when I don't even remember exactly which of their burgers I tried. I'd like to taste test more of each, they're certainly better than McDonalds, Burger King, or Carls Jr.

Carls is all about advertising. If you are influenced by commercials more than flavor, you will prefer them.

Dicks - interesting. When I first tried them in the '90s they tasted great - they were full fat and full flavor then. They charged extra for ketchup, which was truly annoying to me. When I tried them later in the early oughts, they had gotten leaner, which reduces flavor (a greasy burger almost always tastes better than a lean burger, even if the food cops claim that it's less healthy). They still charged extra for ketchup, but they didn't have that unique original flavor.

Bubba, I dunno about Roseburg - but I do know the northernmost California outpost of In and Out is in Redding, in case you keep heading south on I5.

Seattle doesn't need any more burger joints, specially from Californiiaa. We're Californicated enough as it is. The best burger joint in Seattle is the Red Mill up on Phiney Ridge, followed by Kidd Valley. The Red Robin used to make good burgers.

I'm from West Virginia, so when make my rounds out west i madk sure to get my fill of In-N-Out Burger. I like it, and it reminds me a little of Sonic. I'm not sure i prefer it over the flame broiled taste of BK burgers but i definately like the secret menu Animal Style Double!

Nothing in the In N Out website about any Oregon stores. Just California, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and Texas.
