Could you be talking about Coast Walk? It's it a short path that starts the Cove and meanders above/along the cliffs.

I think you are right not having public access to the areas above the cove. I think we need to work on making some new friends who live up there so we can check out their views.

I've been where the Coast Walk is. The view I want seems to be best from the decks on houses overlooking the ocean. I think you're right, we need to make some new friends!

MAK - Have you hiked to the top of Cowles Mt. yet? I'd love to see what you and your camera can do from up there. You can bring your doggies, too, although I'm not sure how they will do on an uneven trail for 1.5 miles?

Here are a few that I took from last Sunday at sunset -

Plenty of people had the same idea as me that day (Hey fellas, if you are looking for a cute girl to bump into, this is the place)

A close up of the antennas you can't miss when driving east on the 8, past Qualcomm stadium

Settling in for the big show. Lake Murray below

Along with a spectacular sky, your reward is an unobstructed view of the Pacific, the islands off the coast, Coronado and the Bridge, the Silver Strand, Downtown (about 10 miles away and if you look really hard, you'll see the highrises) and Point Loma. The elevation is just under 1,600 ft. above sea level.

FYI - it's important to bring a flashlight for your hike down in case you don't make it before nightfall. It can be pitch black out there.

sdurbanite - Amazing pictures! The hike up Cowles Mountain is breathtaking. I've done it several times. I took my girlfriend up there the other night and the view just never stops amazing me.

Great pics! No, I haven't been there yet. Can't seem to find a willing hiking partner! I'd go with just the dogs, but being Bulldogs they'd probably collapse from heat exhaustion halfway up and I'd have to lug 100 lbs. of dead weight!

Haha, Deb. It's not hard when you have SD as your backdrop! We need to go out and take some pics next week, let me know when you're free and I'll pick you up!

Here are some from Mission Beach today. Even the most beautiful, stunning, gorgeous Bulldog enjoyed his time at the beach!
