Hi,

I was wondering if T-Mobile coverage is any good in San Diego. 4G/3G/ phone calls, etc.?

I could check the website for coverage but that grossly differs from real world usage. So I thought I would ask you guys.

How is it mostly in San Diego and surrounding areas?

Thanks.

3G or HSPA+ is pretty consistent. Don't know about 4G. LTE hasn't reached here yet, we think.

LTE is in fact here and has been active for about a month

Of the 4 majors, I would put it about 3rd with Sprint being the worst and Verizon being the most consistent (aka best).

3G doesnt really exist anymore for T-Mo on newer devices and more recent spec. Unless you have an older device which only supports a lower speed class of 4G then it will show up as 3G.

oddstray, do you have a device that still shows 3G for data connectivity?

I recently moved to SD from NJ with a Nexus 4 on T-Mobile. No coverage issues in SD and less random drop-offs than the North East.

I have a T-Mobile SmartPhone with 4G, and have no problems.

I have Verizon and have no problems. My co-worker has T-Mobile and is constantly complaining about dropped calls, delayed texts (she sent texts and they were not received for several days). She has a lot of problems in buildings and I've heard that complaint before.

Her contract is up in a couple of months and she intends to move to Verizon.

I have no problems with dropped calls and delayed texts, but the only texting I do is at a bus stop, and my phone works just fine inside of buildings.

I had them for years before I switched to Verizon. Their HDSPA+ (their high speed WAN) is reasonably fast and has good coverage in most residential and business areas. In the areas where they don't have coverage the 3G is pretty good as well. The phone quality and coverage however is totally inferior to Verizon.

I've used TMobile for a long long time. I've never had a problem with dropped calls in San Diego, however, the 4G connection is pretty bad on my iPhone in certain spots. In several areas, sometimes it's even still on Edge! I plan on switching to AT&T or Verizon here in December when my contract is up.

I know TMobile switched over to no contracts a few months ago but I'm on a plan where I signed on a one year contract but I want a more consistent 4G coverage as I use Internet more than I use the cellphone to chat on the phone.
