And Pathfinder was a car built in the early 1900's. I wonder if Nissan had to get rights to the name?

Played with a few alternate spellings and found out that HAL 12 was a "locomibile" company, too.

Found this ad for them from a newspaper in 1965 (I don't know why they have a 1957 Ford in the picture). Its got locations listed at the bottom. Looks like they were owned by Kentucky Fried Chicken? If so, they must of been doing what Church's was trying to do with GW Juniors 15 years later. I read that one of their executives (Three Bears) in San Antonio was stabbed to death by an employee in 1972.

hhwolfman, satx56,
you guys have me curious now on this Three Bears thing. The ad I posted has text on it refering to the restaurant "as the hamburger sensation of the nation," leading readers to believe this was a national chain. Col. Saunders playing with the three bears makes me think that this was a spin off from KFC. However, after searching the internet and the news archives, the only hits for Three Bears Hamburger Den (love that name) is in San Antonio. The history link on the KFC websit makes no mention it, and in fact has Col. Saunders selling out KFC to a national franchise around 1965.

My best guess is the franchise owners of KFC in San Antonio started this another restaurant venture that eventually closed up in the early 70's. I can find no mention of it after 1972 and the murder of its executive.

What do you guys remember about this restaurant? Was it only local?

The only "Three Bears" I recall was next to McCreless Mall just off Southcross . Just south of Southcross on what would be the continuation of Gevers St. Think they've made it an access to I-37 now!! You're not thinking of the old "Running Bear" ice house/ beer joint on S.E.Military at Mission Road. It's just recently been done away with and a tiny strip center in it's place!!

Yeah, I think wolfman is talking about the old Running Bear which is pretty close to the river!! The Three Bears I've spoken of here and there was as described in my post above!! Just went there a few times must have been around 1975!! It must have been short lived too!! They had Baby Burgers and Mama Burgers, Papa Burgers and so on!! That had to be the name just was never sure!! Wife can't recall either!! I'm pretty sure our first year of marriage was when we went there 1975 or 76 even!!

I saw the mama and papa burger in the ad. Do you remember what the "piping hot porridge" for 5 cents was?

Nah, sorry I really don't remember that. But, 5 cents for anything in 1975 was cheap!! I guess Porridge is oatmeal or some such cereal. I didn't see your ad I'll check it out!!
