A friend of mine sent this to me a few months ago. A lot of it reflects items from this thread. This may have been posted somewhere in the forum before but thought I'd share it here.

You Know You're From San Antonio

You know exactly how to get to the "Ghost Tracks" from anywhere in town.

You think "pro-choice" means flour or corn tortillas.

You've been to the
Alamo only once as a kid.

You think a health drink is a Margarita without salt.

You think being able to read the Taco Cabana menu makes you bilingual.

You used to live in a neighborhood you wouldn't even drive through today.

There has been a road crew on your street since before the Alamodome was built.

You remember when Crossroads Mall used to be called Wonderland.

You've been to
MidgetMansion.

You know all about the "Dancing Diablo" and the "Donkey Lady" bridge.

You know that Wheatley and Brackenridge is the same school.

You remember the Captain Gus show.

Your subwoofer is worth as much as your first car.

You have three rodeo outfits but never have been on a horse

You're an expert with the brake pedal, but you don't use a blinker.

Your idea of culture is wearing a Spurs T-shirt.

You think the last supper was at Mi Tierra restaurant.

You think local politicians are crooks, but you won't vote.

You care if
San Antonio is in the "national spotlight".

A formal occasion is getting a glass with your longneck.

You believe Tacos, barbecue, tequila, and beer are the four basic food groups.

You think wearing bows in your hair will get you a husband.

Your White mother learned how to make Tamales from your neighbors.

You know the "real" definition of FIESTA is "stay home if at all possible".

You can order Mexican and Chinese food at the restaurant.

You remember the Joske's Christmas display.

You remember when JC Penney's had a restaurant.

You're elementary field trip was to the Butter Crust Bakery.

You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from
San Antonio.

I scored too well on that last quiz. Never visited the midget mansion, and realize the salt is what make the margarita healthy in this heat, and I used to eat that the J.C. Penney's restuarant.. Oh, and my white mother learned how to make tamales from my italian bride, but my bride grew up between Zarzamora and hwy90.....That should count for something, como no?

My street is on it's third generation pot hole filler and his wife is pregnant with the next little hole filler! I am informed that I can get a whole resurfacing in only two more generations!

Default Before it was Daddy's

Before it was Daddy's, it was a Sav-U supermarket. Before that, it was a Piggly Wiggly. That was when there were only four Walgreens in town, including the one at that same shopping center.

Yes, I recall 12 Star Final with their cool classical opening music, and anchorman Tom Ellis. He hit the big time in New York City. Among other things, he appeared in the "Marathon Man" flick. 12 Star Final also added drama to their filmed local accident reports by adding intense background music. It's no wonder that I tried to delay my 10:00 pm bedtime.

I remember them well -- at 11 a.m., it was "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?", followed at noon with the Saturday Afternoon Movie Matinée (I esp. liked the mystery movies -- Sherlock Holmes, Charlie Chan, Mr. Moto), then at either 3 or 4 p.m., it was 5 Star Shock.

I bought the DVD's of the Holmes and Chan movies for my kids to watch. We do a marathon during the summer. I'd like to find a copy of "Murders in the Rue Morgue", one of the memorable film choices from 5 Star Shock.

If I remember correctly in the early 80's on KENS there was a Saturday night "Creature Feature"..and during the commercials they had a locally produced "host" which was the Grim Reaper that made corny horror jokes. The Grim Reaper was rumored to be the weather man (not albert flores). Anyone remember this?
