Im sure it varies by job market. In the greater NY area, there is no shortage of young accounting grads who are ready and willing to be chewed up and spit out by one of the Big Four; I was already behind the 8 ball, being nearly 40, with a family, and not willing to commute into the Manhattan for entry level wages and give handies for a shot at a promotion. And that's
with my uncle being a managing director at one of the top firms, and more than willing to pull strings for me. It's a whole different set of obstacles out in the 'burbs, where I eventually found a job.
