I'm in my early 30's however, most people (based on my looks) think that I'm in my early twenties. Should I just take it as a compliment and not correct them, or should I be honest, and say, thanks, but I'm really in my early 30s.

Same here. I don't really like volunteering my age to everyone, but I won't lie about it either if someone actually needs to know.

But again, I look like I'm 24 or so, but I'm really in my early 30s. An executive at my job once told me that I was so young to have achieved such a high level within my current organization. I looked rather puzzled, because clearly, this person did not realize that I am over 30.

Well, lying isn't a good quality so you should be honest about your age and take it as a compliment. I mean what reason would you lie about your proper age?

I don't feel the need to lie, but at the same time, I don't feel the need to disclose my age either.

yeah, lying isn't a good idea. what's so bad about revealing the real age? i don't see no harm in it.............unless somebody's got a tiny bit of insecurities that might need to be addressed X - )

It depends on the situation. I have no problem telling people how old I am most of the time - but I'm a performer and often get asked (in a round about way - they aren't allowed to ask outright) in auditions how old I am or what year I graduated college. I usually find a way to avoid answering - and I try to do it in a humorous way. Onstage - it really only matters how old I look and not how old I am. However, in my offstage life - I could care less and will tell anyone who asks.

Yeah, if there's no need to know then don't worry about it. I thought you might be talking about potential dates or something where you are hiding how old you actually are.

Age is a man made number that some moron in society somewhere along the line decided was "important" and the shallow end of the society pool followed their leader as usual and it has become "important" enough to make others believe it is way more important than it is.

Bottom line, lie or don't your choice but when you are dead and have become worm food you might be wishing you were still having actual live birthdays that you can announce to everyone your man made number to.
