I'm 23 but depending on how much makeup I have on and how I'm dressed, I can look way older or way younger.
I'm only 5'2 so when I don't have any makeup on and I'm just wearing jeans and a hoodie, people think I'm 15.
If I get a little dressed up with makeup on I look about 25.
But again, I look like I'm 24 or so, but I'm really in my early 30s. An executive at my job once told me that I was so young to have achieved such a high level within my current organization. I looked rather puzzled, because clearly, this person did not realize that I am over 30.
I get this at work, as well. You don't have to disclose your actual age. Just say something like, "Thanks, but I'm in my early 30s" and leave it at that. Then soak up the compliments.
1. No one ever looks their age, apparently. Everyone always says "everyone thinks I look younger".
2. When asked to guess someone's age....don't most people lowball that number?
You have a very good point on #2... most people rather err on the side of guessing too young because the other is can be seen as offensive.
For what it's worth, I think I look my age
I think I will start giving my age in Venusian years or dog years or something, that will be fun Not that anyone other than my doctor asks me my age (and she just confirms it if you want to be technical about things).
the thing i think many women don't consider, is that when we men try to guess your age, we're always going to aim low --significantly lower than we think you really are, in fact. We have everything to gain by flattering you by guessing too low, and everything to lose by insulting you by guessing too high. I assure you, the vast majority of you look the age that you actually are, even though everyone usually guesses that you're younger.
