Not false compliments necessarily, but they're going to err in the direction of guessing too low rather than guessing too high. Like I said, there's nothing to lose by guessing too low, and everything to lose by guessing too high, so which do you think people are going to do?
I've even had a woman be upset with me when I guessed her age correctly right on the nose, because she was used to people guessing too low, and therefore believed she looked younger than her age. (She didn't. She looked exactly her age, like most people.) So now, I intentionally guess way too low every time with every woman, just to be safe. Can't hurt. This is what we do.
I have no clue whatsoever how old/young I look right now.
Most people don't tell me, and I don't ask-
it would put them on the spot, and I usually tell them (friends)
before they ever have the chance to ask/guess anyway.
I'm always completely honest about my age,
though sometimes I forget & have to think for a minute "How old *am* I ?"
Lying about your age could backfire. Buddy of mine who's nearly 40 was dating a girl for 2 years. They lived together, all that stuff. He looks super young. He told her he was 29 and she believed him. Then his gf ran into one of his ex's on the street one day. She said, "tell him happy birthday. The big 4-0." Gf was like, "what do you mean the big 4-0?" So anyways, she found out he was 40, dumped him and that was that. By the way, yes, my friend is a massive idiot.
I'm in my early 30's however, most people (based on my looks) think that I'm in my early twenties. Should I just take it as a compliment and not correct them, or should I be honest, and say, thanks, but I'm really in my early 30s.
Enjoy it. Sometimes you may have to correct yourself if it's borderline insulting. I've been carded more times after 35 than I have ever been in my life. Sometimes it's awesome, sometimes it's annoying.
Funny thing is when I was in my teens I was often mistook for some in his twenties.

I would correct them, I have never lied about my age, height, weight or education when asked.
Lol I have no qualms about it, actually I enjoy the surprise when I do tell people my age.
It's always a nice feeling, knowing that working out, eating right & meditation really do pay off
1. No one ever looks their age, apparently. Everyone always says "everyone thinks I look younger".
2. When asked to guess someone's age....don't most people lowball that number?
