Married men, what does your wife do for you that I can't get from a variety of other women?
And you can reverse that to: "Married women, what does your husband do for you that you can't get from a variety of other men?"

I don't think you will see the point to marriage until you stop only viewing it as what you can "get."

If you don't want to get married... then simply don't.

Someone to build a life with. It's easier when you have a partner. You can have variety and lot's of different people, but if you want the stability and family stuff it usually means marriage. Someone who will wipe the drool off your face when you're old and feeble, so to speak. We aren't young and appealing and independent forever.

Never heard of it, but I would definitely stay away from a cow!

Worse even when you find the milk curdled.

Because my answers may not apply to others, everyone has different reasons.

AND, because I have no desire to convince you. If you have no desire to get married, that's a valid choice.

But the saying isn't about being single vs married. It is typically thrown out at the couple who is living together "without benefit of clergy" as my father would say!

I understand what your saying, but I can "Build a life with a partner" without having to get legally married.

It's not about "convincing" though. It's a simple question and answer, and I've never gotten an answer.(not just from you, from anyone)I'm starting to think it's because the answer doesn't exist, and I'm not the only man that's starting to figure that out

Well, this a drift from the original post, so I'll make this my last on this subject...

Aside from other issues, there are many legal benefits to being married (not talking about alimony here...), for both parties. It's up to each individual to decide what benefits them....
