Are platonic friendships possible after a certain age?

I think platonic friendships are great. I've had several of them. However, if you haven't had any before now, I wonder if you're going to be able to have any. I've had them since 3rd grade, and most of them women I'm friends with have too.

I had a brother and somehow learned about platonic relationships from him.

OF COURSE THEY ARE!!! Not meaning to shout, but anyone with real brains and any feelings at all knows they are, friendship is something not to be dismissed lightly...
