I think that interest rates will drop a little, but not likely to get much below 6% in the next 12 months.

Yes, I realize that. OP is looking for the old conditions to return of 2.5%-3% mortgages. I hear rumblings with the financial experts they think the new floor for Feds will be 2% instead of 0% when they do lower rates again (which would make mortgage rates higher than 3% I believe).

Actually, I do; I've been in such relationships. But thanks!

You're describing a good marriage; obviously, not all marriages are good.

We'll see what happens. Keep us updated, OP!

If you haven't been married it's not the same. I know people insist it is. You have never combined finances if you were not married.

I'll concede that point, but the fact remains that some marriages don't have an equitable balance of power or aren't even functional/healthy. Again, we'll see what happens; post again in the spring, OP!

How common is it to buy a house lot for $650,000?

Is it mostly among the wealthy such as some highly paid show business artists and movie stars, and business tycoons?

Or is it not so uncommon among more average people?

I'm not sure the OP responded to a question by a poster asking if his $650,000 lot included just enough land on which to build the house or did it include more land?

But she also doesnt want me unhappy and per conversations before, and last night she agreed that she would be ok selling but would want to wait til the 2 year mark (next December) as that she feels even if the market goes down that it wont go down more than what we would pay in taxes if we dont wait.

As to the isolation aspect, she likes being more rural and wants her peace. I on the otherhand want a neighborhood to which she promptly reminded me of our neighbors in Philly who had pit bulls that barked at all hours and that rural neighbors will likely own dogs as well,,,,shes not totall wrong on this one I guess, we are isolated but the closest neighbors are atleast quiet
You basically built the house yourself?? ~ (that isn't an exaggeration?)

I thought you had all kinds of construction workers building the house.

You're saying you built the house since you first moved into the camper on the grounds last Christmas?

I can't picture you building the house yourself - where did you pick up the skills?

The house looks modest.....and a bit patchwork and rough....but might improve.

It seems like such an extreme decision.....the whole endeavor and decisions.

It mainly looks that way because its not sided yet, and windows came in very late. The siding and deck rails will give it a more finished look I had framed roughly 10 houses before this (years ago) and pre covid things moved along much faster. Finding people who want to work is very difficult.
