How often does it snow up there? You mentioned that the last time this happened was in 2005. I thought it snowed more often than that.

it usually does....last winter was the first one since I moved here in Dec. 94 that it hasn't snowed at least once. As for everyone else's comments. While I really do appreciate you guys comming to my defense on the food lion comments...I actually agree with desda....Food Lion is low quality. My wife does most of the grocery shopping and says that HT is too expensive, but Food Lion is poor quality...she goes to lowes. I was kind of being funny....because it seems that it is always food lion that is baren of milk and bread the day before a winter storm (or hurricane for that matter) first before any other store...most likely because there are more food lions around here than anything else, and it's just milk and bread so people aren't as concerned about meat and produce quality. But now they are calling for ice too....so it probalby would be a good idea to stock up on a few essentials because traveling won't be very good tomorrow if what they are forcasting actually happems.

Remember: If you stock up on milk and perishables and the power goes out (which has happened for as long as 7 days before) - watch your money rot.

Unless you have a generator at the ready.

Has someone started a thread on the ice storm a few years ago? Ooooh, it would be so much fun remembering that tomorrow while it's icy cold outside.

Why would things rot when you'd have the world's largest icebox right out side your front door?

It happened to lots of people who had big freezers full of food. There is only so much you can get outside in a container that's rodent proof.

LeavingtheCold, ((((friend!!)))) I know what you mean! I once lived in an area where wind chill got down to 60 below.

This NC winter has been a really nice spring, hasn't it. )

As one who has lived throgh real blizzards in the past....rodents aren't really an issue in bad weather....and there are ways to prevent other animals if need be. If you have food rotting when it's close to freezing it's your own darn fault.

There was a photo/video feature on the '05 storm on the Raleigh Skyline site - it's still there and accessible from the front page, you'll spot it right away. www.raleighskyline.com is the web address. Let's hope tomorrow isn't as bad as that one was!

Air temp was -12 two days ago at my house - with the 15-25mph breeze that goes with living in Nebraska. Fortunately, I'm not there (out of the country, currently), but my wife is there... and she ain't happy about it!

We're looking forward to getting out to the Raleigh area. She's going out next week to spend a few days looking at houses we found on the internet via different realtor sites. (love MLS lookups and county real estate records!)
