So the big contemporary church we currently attend in Wake Forest does not provide reasonable accommodations for breastfeeding mothers and their babies, at least not in my opinion. I would prefer to just stay at home rather than I had go to church only to be sent to spend my time ostracized behind a makeshift curtain in the back of the nursery room.
There is truly no point in me being there at all -- I am not receiving God's word, not participating in worship service or bible study, and it pointless to go only to subject my baby to the noise and germs of the jam-packed nursery.
I'm also not sure I am the type to just confidently whip my boob out in the middle of a packed worship service, but it would be nice to know if there are any "pro-boob" churches in the North Raleigh or Wake Forest area we could check out before the baby arrives.
Isn't it fairly common these days for larger churches to at least have a proper mother's room, specifically for breastfeeding moms and nursing babies? A room where audio is piped in during the sermon so we can still feel like we are participating in the service?
Or are my expectations just too liberal for these parts?
Episcopal Church of the Nativity in north Raleigh. Just sit among the congregation and do what comes natural. No one (except possibly the teenage boys, you know how they are) would be concerned. Call the priest (a woman) for further info.
I agree with no kudzu ... "Nursing friendly church" would have been better.
How about giving us an idea of what you're looking for doctrinally? We can start rattling off the names of churches, but I would hope that your primary criteria in choosing a faith community isn't whether or not they have a private space for you to use for nursing.

I also concur. I clicked on this thread with much anticipation and excitement but am now somewhat disappointed.
Yes, indeed, "Shocked," is not too strong a word.
I was expecting something along the lines of "Boobs and Nincompoops" as well as others afflicted with mortal imperfections being welcomed to a house of worship.
I agree, y'all need to lighten up.....shesh!
Nursing mommies have many options at C3 in Clayton, but I expect that's a bit too far of a drive.
Good Luck to you in your hunt.
