Heading out in the morning for some fly fishing action out of the Placida boat ramp. Not sure where we are heading yet but I for one have redfish on the brain. Looking forward to a great day on the water!

I enjoyed the nice day. I fished several of the creeks along the Myakka River, between the cutoff and the bridge. I wanted to get deep in the cutoff but I arrived at low tide and it was -.04
I could see all of the crab trabs fully exposed out of the water. I couldn't get inside the cutoff but had fun polling along in 12" of water and looking at all what I'm pretty sure were Oysters, although the tails threw me off. I caught 3 stingrays, a cat and a ladyfish. I hoped for reds but it wasn't to be.
I stayed out until the tide went high again but by then I had left the cutoff.

HH, I tried your hot tip but it only produced another stingray.

The weather was gorgeous, although the wind picked up with white caps for the 4PM ride home.
The best thing all day was an flock of pelicans, numbering in the dozens, flying in a perfect V formation. It was an awesome sight.

MA, it was good seeing you going back home. Sorry your trip wasn't more productive but at least you got out. Myself, stayed in the pool today.

Good seeing the Frogman coming out of the pool! I was looking for you.
Would have stopped to chat but needed to get things cleaned up before dark.

I had a fun day yesterday out on the water. I caught my first redfish on the fly, also my first flounder and mullet on fly rod. I caught a few needlefish too but I've caught them before! : ) It was a gorgeous day! The redfish was 21" but the flounder was not quite keeper size.

That's too bad. My neighbor fished over there Saturday as well and says he caught 9 reds. Strange...

I've been thinking about it. All different spots, same catch result. What are the odds? It may have had something to do with the way I rigged. I put small split shot behind each leader to try and get more casting distance. Sometimes I had a float and sometimes I didn't, but each bite was a skate. Probably won't try that rig again.
