Stay Salty, my friends.
Hey Bill thanks for the reminder. I bought the materials last time I was down per your recommendation but I'm waiting for those low tides to come back around. Probably will do it next time I'm down which is right after Christmas. Should have some good low tides then don't you think? Mark

It comes down to this.

JerseyMan says lets go for a boat ride and I offer to give him some money for fuel.
This is legal as long as we would have gone had I not offered.

Someone who you don't know offers to pay for fuel etc to take the them out fishing!
Illegal!

Gary

No, it's actually not illegal if there is no demanded exchange of money for the services. Paying for gas & bait is simply sharing the cost, not paying for services.

If you read the thread, I believe you'll see that the general consensus is that is not the case.

Yes, Mark. Check out 2015 Tide Table for Punta Gorda (Charlotte Harbor), Florida (Gulf Coast) for fishing <º(((>< and scroll to the bottom. You can view the whole month and plan accordingly. I use this when friends want to come from out of state to fish and have flexible dates...gives the better shot at catching instead of fishing.

Ok let's make this real simple.

If you are friends, family etc. it is not illegal as long as you don't require that they chip in.

If you do an illegal charter and get caught you will lose your boat and all of your gear, $27,500 fine and possible jail time.

Gary

Very useful info. There's also a number of apps for IOS & Android that have some pretty comprehensive information.

Jack plate back in order and running like a top. Decided to buy the complete relay assy with wiring harness, rather than digging the bad relays out of the potting and replacing. The extra 55 bucks vs the bare relays probably saved me 6 hrs of work...and a whole lot of cursing.
