Having a wonderful time here at the Ft. Myers Beach Funament. Had dinner with Another classic mako.com member and his crew...really enjoyed the company. My fish total is not representing just yet...one 19" speckled trout and a variety of junk fish. We will launch at 5 AM tomorrow and try the bridge shadows for snook.

Can't believe all the free gear included in the Captains bag...this is not coupons disguised as values...there are hooks, leader, knives (bait and fillet), a sharpener, 2 hats 4 shirts, crank baits , soft baits, aMako branded cup, shot glass, license plate, cookie, kept chain and more. Plus a $50 bass Pro gift card, plus a $10 off coupon. I spent $76 at Bass Pro last night and only ponied up sixteen dollars of my own money!

Met George Poveromo and Roland Martin.

The marina is first rate. The people running the event are wonderful. Thanks, Classicmako.com for making my Funament dream come true.

Having a wonderful time....wish you all were here! Bedtime. I'm out.

PS - yes, my personal locator beacon paws a Spot. Loved it but don't need it in-shore. Want it for $25? Does everything Big House described for a 150 dollar annual subscription. Device costs $150 want mine? LOL

The weather is here, I wish you were beautiful....did I mention the Funament has free nightly beer and rum to wash the free food down? Good night from Estero Bay!

Wow, that sounds fantastic. I have to admit, I am jealous.

Oh well, at least I'll be down there next week at this time. Good luck with the fish.

Well two weekends and my week off have come and gone. Nobody messaged me, so I did not go out fishing (no tackle or expertise). I hope in the future that will change. Thanks for sharing your stories..one day..one day.....

Up in Delaware bay we never give any thought to catching Sheepshead. Over the past year I have seen some very small ones swimming the marina (something new) we'll that has changed.

Two weeks ago a fisherman landed one weighing in at 17.1 Lb wow.

The Florida record is 15.2 lbs, I just read a story about a guy in Florida who caught one about 17 lbs but he didn't have it weighed on a certified scale and the he ate it. Oops!

Hang in there, Army Chief. We will get you out there. Gary, that's a heck of a sheepshead. My friend and I call them "smileys" because of their teeth looking like they are smiling at us...we also call them "headshakers" because of the way they react on your line. Usually really easy to know what you have when you have a sheepshead on your line. They make great Ceviche, as well.

Default My Boy's First Fish!

My boy (almost 5) wanted to go fishing Friday afternoon. First time he's ever asked me to take him. OK!!! Well he caught a Jack Crevalle right away and he was HOOKED! Stayed out 4.5 hrs, fishing constantly! What 5yr old does that!?!?!? Then the next day, "dad can we go fishing again?" Awe, heart melting at this point! Load the boat, lower the lift, grab bait around the corner, and 10 mins later we are catching more fins in Lemon Bay. This time he got his first Red (small, but that's ok!) and mangrove snapper. Dad reeled in a nice 6lb black drum, which paired well with two snapper Sunday night for dinner (after a 3rd straight day of fishing-his request again) :-) Ahhh Monday, back to work & school....
