Great spot to get to the ocean or the bay quickly. Also great restuarant and outside bar there. I was just there last weekend for a beer and some fish tacos.

This might be the best fishing / music video ever made.

Heading out fishing the harbor this week for the first time. Heading to the old 41 bridge. Someone told me to use shrimp and finger mullet. Any suggestions? We are only here for this week with the family and friends. Looking to catch anything edible

Wed Thur Fri look to be the best tides. It will be low tide fairly early, 830-900, the incoming all day until about 4ish. If you get out at sunrise, 7ish you can get the last hour of the ebb tide, then work the flood tide all day. Peak bite time, if you listen to the moon and stars, are 1:30-4:00 any given one of those three days.

I will be out, likely Thursday with my grand twins.

I think we are going off-shore Thursday or Friday diving but who knows. We're on vacation so everything is up in the air

Anyone else buy any gear during Amazon Prime's sale today? I picked up a second Penn Fierce 4000 reel for $49. Wal-Mart's competing sale had it at $59. Bass Pro $79. Speaking of Bass Pro. About a year ago I bought one of their Frigate 4000. It's very reliable and fun to fish.

Also grabbed some soft plastic lures and Gulp Alive.

Grandkids arrived yesterday and were catching Cichlids off the dock today. Looking for a window away from work to get them on the boat.

We went out to the old 41 bridge yesterday in between storms. Two small snapper and two unknowns that snapped our lines. Re-rigged bigger and better for today. Hopefully back out again this afternoon.

Tomorrow we fish.

Fished the bridge and caught a nice sized Spanish Mackerel. Then it got rough so headed back home.

Going back north Saturday. Be back in September...

Saturday the winds were quite a bit higher than forecast (shocker) so I decided not to subject the Grandtwins to a rough ride down to midpoint on the West Wall. Instead we pulled into the Myakka Cutoff and spent the day exploring a couple new to me creeks, in search of Reds. We never found them but we found way too many catfish. We were pleased by one 12" mangrove snapper, which Devin kept, learned to scale and clean, an will enjoy as a small meal or big snack.

We experimented with the GoPro, using the suction mount atop the poling platform, with a secondary safety line attached just in case. The wound worked great from the trailer tow, throughout the day, and tow home, it never wavered. This is the mount they use on airplane wings and outside cars to capture those huh speed scenes so I was fairly confident. Once I get the raw footage edited I will post a link.

We avoided rain and lightning, fishing from 9-4. Had a problem with the powerpole not working after the first stop. Likely some corrosion in the fuse connection that infill have to clean up. With a flats boat, the powerpole and trim tab motors are in the bilge and get subject to a lot more moisture than I'd like. Everything else ran good on the day. The boys had fun and that's what counts.
