I can't wait to get down there, last time I only had a couple days to fish, and wound up eating grilled snook for days. This time I have 3 weeks, a very capable boat, and am a bit more familiar with this type of fishing. Should be a blast.

We are going to try some Tarpon fishing out at the past as well. Not something i am familiar with, but I have a friend who is just crazy to go shark fishing as well. We are planning both to go out both during the day, and at night as weather allows.

Duke, check the FL rules. As I remember it, FL makes it illegal to kill sharks with any type of exploding device. That changed my mind about shark fishing for anything of a good size after I got down here. Lots of good ones out there. Hammerheads, Tigers, bulls and then plenty of black tips. Those of us who did it off of NJ or NY are used to bang sticks etc.

Yup no bang sticks in Florida waters.

There is this couple that fish off the Beach in Boca Grande. They have a web page and post info on their fishing exploits. bigbully.net | Page 3

They catch more and larger fish than I'll bet 95 percent of the people fishing from boats.

Thanks for the link, it was fun looking at there pictures. More interesting than some other fishing web sites photos for some reason.

Thanks for the tip on the bang stick. I figured the old gaff, club, hunting knife trio would due the trick, although I have only dealt with dogfish up north.

I have heard that Bonnet heads are good eating, and wanted to try them.

I will be on the water somewhere in the Harbor everyday, no matter the weather. Rough days we will stay close, cruise the river or canals, calm days out to the pass, etc.

I have been fishing along time, but not in the south, and not in skinny water. My new boat is smaller than I am used to, but it will enable us to fish in less than a foot of water when need be.
I am very excited as I only had a couple days in the water last time I was in Florida. The weather as terrible, but we had fun and fished Thansgiving day, so no complaints. Below is a link to the boat.

Nice boat - like the panga style; assume it will do well in the chop. That small gas tank will be kind of a pain in the neck though.

Thank you, I am really excited about it. It has a 55 gallon tank, which isn't too small for a 150hp outboard. I hope t will get me pretty much anywhere I would need to go in the harbor and near shore out of the pass. I plan to refuel on the water, but if need be I could carry some cans.

I need a few things fishin franks, and then we will be out there.

Up at 4:30. Shore power put away, Boat uncovered and off the lift; tied to dock at 4:50.
Time for the first cup of coffee. Plan on launching at 7 to get the last of the outgoing tide this morning.
Heeeeeeeere, fishy, fishy

There's early birds, there's early risers, then there's MA. I had 2 solid hours of snoring left when you were shivering on your dock. Marine forecast says a little choppy today, so I may just putter around in the canals. I'll be out tomorrow, maybe down to the Caloosahatchee to look for slob snook.
