"What’s really remarkable is that in all my years studying national reputation, I have never seen any country experience such a dramatic change in its standing as we see for the United States in 2009,” explains Simon Anholt, NBI founder and an independent advisor to over a dozen national governments around the world."

"The results suggest that the new U.S. administration has been well received abroad and the American electorate’s decision to vote in President Obama has given the United States the status of the world’s most admired country.”

America is Now the Most Admired Country Globally – Jumping to the Top of the 2009 Anholt-GfK Roper Nation Brands Index

Thanks to Barack Obama and the people who voted him into office. It's good to be back on top!

...and if 0bama can make us more socialist and crank up the unemployment to 11-12% they will love us even more. In other words, the worser we gets, the better they likes us.

lol.. This is all this deserves because if we are really that worried about this, bigger things are on the horizon for the good ole US of A. We need to start rebuilding the fabric of this nation and getting on with business where every single person here can have what they want. Ingenuity people...ingenuity.....

I have not thought of it that way, but you do have an interesting point.

It's possible to be strong and be admired by the world. George W. Bush fooled a lot of people into thinking that in order to be strong, we had to be feared or hated. He was totally wrong.

I thought it was a stupid point. We were the most admired country under Reagan. Did Reagan kowtow to other countries or turn us into a Socialist society? No.

Here\'s the real gravity of this situation. If you take care of your business properly, the cream rises to the top. When things are bad for everyone,,,and mind you that you and myself might be living a whole lot better than a lot of people out there in the world,,, when things get bad for people, anger and frustrations stir up. The popularity contest is nothing to worry about, when our society gets its act together, which I am confident it will, things will fall into place. I do not just mean America, the entire world needs to manage its business a bit better....Hopefully this can happen, if we and the world goes mad, we might be in a completely different situation.
