Anyone that does not have compassion for the poor, the down trodden is not a Christian, any real Christian knows that. To be a Christian is to be Christ-like. Would Christ murder 30 million un-born children? You see these types of questions are usually used to support an agenda.

Most donate through those churches to help provide for the less fortunate. I would assume that a church-goer would have more say in holding the church accountable for properly administering their charitable actions than a US citizen has in holding our government accountable in their "charitable" actions.
I see where you're coming from but how do you explain those wearing crosses while shouting, "BUY YOUR OWN DA** HEALTH CARE!! SCREW THE POOR!!"

You really think people would start giving to charities more if taxes were lower?

I'd much rather my tax dollars go towards proving universal health care to my fellow citizens.

It's not like the tax rate is going to rise dramatically if we have single-payer system. I'd imagine wages would go up because employers would no longer be responsible for health care and most people wouldn't mind paying slightly more in taxes if they're going to get an equitable health care system and if they're going to see their wages rise.

This is so typical of Christians! They are judgmental of others and their charity is based on the perceived worthiness of the recipients.

Are you really saying that wearing a cross make someone a Christian?

Please tell me you are not.

Do not judge all Christians based on the actions of a few. My unemployed neighbor, a conservative Christian, just organized a drive for the Denver Rescue Mission, and took the turkeys and donations down to the Rescue Mission himself.

The problem that I have with Bible thumpers is their hypocrisy.

If you call yourself a Christian (follower of Jesus Christ) and you want a Christian government (abortion, moral values, etc) then you should be a supporter of socialism, because Jesus Christ clearly told his followers to be socialist:
- Give your money to the poor
- Rich people will never go to heaven (unless you can get a camel to go through the eye of a needle)
- And many others.

Jesus did not call his people to be socialist, he called them to use their money to help those less fortunate. It is called tithing.

Rich people can go to heaven very easily. All they need to do is ask Christ to be their savior and serve him faithfully. The evils that money bring are the problem not having money. BTW that does not mean a real camel passing through the eye of a needle. If you knew the Bible you would know that.

Jesus despised the hypocrites of his day whether they were within the church or government. He is neither Republican nor Democrat. I would say he would look at our government and cringe regardless of the party that was in power.

Good point! I've often wondered how many children, between the ages of 6 months to 10 years, would Jesus murder? Like with land-mines and bombs.

Like I said in the post you quoted/replied to; I am not a religous person and as a result, I do not have a church.
Of that 50mil how many are legal citizens? How many can afford it but do not buy it? How many are already using a government operated health service like medicaid? How many does that leave that have fallen between the cracks, maybe 10mil? The government does not provide the real help, the tax payers do. It is time we get the credit, and maybe time we find a different system to deal with these issues. I really do not know what it would be, but there has to be a better alternative out there than a monster beaurocracy eating through the funds before they even get to the people they are meant to help.
I am not an R or a D, just a realist.
