This is the US and it is absolutely legal to burn a flag.
It's a piece of cloth (manufactured in China most likely).

So he was just another drunken vet.

What a stupid story.
What a stupid response. It's NOT legal to burn a flag that isn't YOURS.

There were no vigilantes here...no one took the law into their own hands. They worked out a solution that was acceptable to both the criminal and the victims. The criminal VOLUNTEERED for the punishment...he could have just as likely ended up in jail. Sounds like a win-win to me and I doubt he'll do anything that stupid again. If I was him I'd take that deal too.

No different than if a kid throws a rock through my window, I could call the cops or make a deal for him to work off the debt on my property, mowing lawn, raking leaves, washing car, massaging my feet.... Win-win.

See what I get for not being able to watch the video? LOL My apologies for an inappropriate post. I didn't realize they had given him a choice and that he flag in question was not his property.
