Carter didn't just retire after his presidency, which is certainly considered one of the worst. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 at the age of 78, for instance, for his work since his presidency. So I seriously doubt that he has to say things to be relevant.

I was also a "ProudCapMarine" although I don't display it as my moniker. Fourteen Marines, one navy corpsman, that's the extent of it. No rear echelon to retreat to, pretty much on your own. Half the guys in my unit were from the southern states and carried a confederate flag (that was in 1970)
I won't say that all of them were prejudiced, but the bulk were. That was just how they were raised.
That was my first exposure (at 18) to people from another culture and it opened my eyes. They, the south Vietnamese, had the same concerns as everyone else in the world, and didn't give a dam about politics, just how to figure out how to make ends meet. I was privileged enough, on more than one occasion to be invited into their dirt floor homes, with no running water, and no electricity, to share a meager meal with them.
I don't want to take this off topic, but I certainly recall the racial comments from the southern gentleman in my unit.....slopes, dinks, rice propelled m____ther f____kers.

You're out to lunch. Bush is a fool. Carter is a humanitarian and a statesman and has worked all over the world as an ex-President to make peoples lives better, and he has been successful at it.

Bush will help no one, and after 8 years of his Presidency succeeded only in spreading misery and death

This is racist?

You didnt watch the press conference about Rev Wright where he went on about how he cant disown Wright because he is like an uncle to him. IN the same press conference he called his grandmother a typical white person.

So once again. Did you feel the same way when Obama called his grandmother a typical white person. IF he said it in his book and you read his book you seem say it. Just in print instead of out of his mouth. So the original question stands

No problem. I just know another poster whose wife's family is Hawaiian and Japanese. Small world.

No doubt your kids are beautiful.

I guess "Liar" was put in context.

Of course he doesn't have to "say things" to be relevant. I totally agree.
He didn't stop living his life when his Presidency ended. He seems to have moved on quite nicely. Could it be because he is busy giving to others in the world who are less fortunate?
