So your experience even on a short trip has demonstrated there were plenty of 'those' to be found?

You know how many times I've been accused of 'generalizing' when I've mentioned it?..

Apparently you did.
You didn't follow the rules and had to be reprimanded.
Apparently other Americans did the same.
When you are a guest in another country, you follow their rules.

Otherwise, you are one of those "other" Americans.

I've never denied it.

No, I wasn't one of those "other" Americans. The key difference is their rudeness was parasitic, whereas my rule-breaking was victimless (unless you mean abstractly). I don't go to other countries and whine about not having 24 hour fast food or no Subway or ice (oh, how I'm tired of hearing people complain about not having ice in their drinks) or any of the other petty crap people complain about. In fact, I actually enjoy not having a lot of that stuff.

Getting back to the topic of the thread, the only point I was trying to make is that not everyone wants to buy into your game and I wish--I sincerely wish--you'd try to respect that.

My game?
Please tell me what "my game" might be.

You entered into a contract with the tour of a historical site.
You did not live up to the terms of the contract.

So your behavior wasn't "as bad as" those "other" Americans.
Interesting justification.

Chielgirl, it was all a metaphor. Just think about it for a moment in the context of the thread and it should make sense.

Look, if you seriously want to discuss or debate my behavior there in another thread or via PM fine, but I think it would be going way off topic to do so in this thread.

Apparently it's a trait that you don't possess.

How would a visitor to the White House or other building in the US be treated for walking off on their own?
Not as kindly as you were treated.

Respect for the country and culture you are visiting is a sign of maturity.
You are a guest.
Apparently, the dude doesn't comprehend the concept of "contracts".

On occasion, I've even stopped at red lights in the middle of the night only to drive through them after noticing noone was around. I even break the speed limit routinely. Ready to hang me from the gallows yet?

The hypocrisy of the left and right apparently knows no bounds.
