And here's a newsflash to all the other yammering idiots infesting this thread: black people don't want reparations, repeat black people don't want reparations, they want jobs, education, healthcare and an end to institutionalized racism. Is that too much to ask? Apparently so.

I'm for it - if I can get reparations for those Swedish and Dutch ba*tards that raided, pillaged and raped their way through my various and sundry homelands. Hell, lets throw in the British for what they did to my Irish forebearers as well as the Russians for what they did to my Czech people behind the Iron Curtain. Then of course we need to go after the Germans for what they did to my ancestral lands during WWII and WWI not to mention the Italians who no doubt enslaved, raped and murdered more then a few of my ancestors (The Roman Empire was like that). Oh wait, can't forget Charlemagne....Oh to hell with it - the world owes me!

Clearly, after so much time there aren't any actual living slaves anymore than there were actual living Apache, Seminole or countless other Native American tribesmen to benefit from Casino licensing or Tax exemption or whatever other reparations have been extended to the descendants of Native American tribespersons. The concept of slave reparations is no more or less ridiculous than the concept of Native American reparations. Gambling doesn't really interest me, however, any serious reparations package for African Americans must include Fried Chicken franchising or Watermelon cultivation and distribution subsidies to get my vote.

In my understanding, reparations would be meted out according to the projections of how much the US government profitted off of slave labor, I think a tactic to make it seem more divisive is to make it sound as if it's white people 'repaying' blacks.
Minus civil war costs perhaps? Maybe subtract the costs for legislating the 13th Amendment and Civil rights Laws, plus enforcing them?
And are people being screened? Are the decendants of slave owners who were black themselves being screened out of the process? Or, for that matter, are people being screened out whose ancestors were either NOT enslaved, and/or whose families immigrated AFTER the 13th Amendment?
And I'm sorry, but what I bolded above is spot on. This isn't about some facless gesalt entity making reparations for an at-the-time legal and widely used institution, not to mention the Federal Government didn't OWN people. And not to mention that it would indeed by OUR tax revenue used for these reparations, tax revenue not only of those who would recieve them BACK in reparations, but the tax revenue of people who never owned, nor profited from, slaves. Each and every US Citizen, regardless of ancestry or culpability in slavery, would be paying for these reparations.
Reparations are a pure political ploy, nothing more, nothing less, pushed by those so-called "civil rights leaders" who would profit the most from this endevour either monitarilly or through political clout.
