Oh my Gawd! What is the world coming to! The rich are having to cut back! I want to just cry for them. Especially the one who has had to scale back trips on his private jet! I think we need to give them another tax cut!

things must be rough when you have to ask your PERSONAL SHOPPER to look for more economical things when they go shopping for you. Way to cut back.. must really be feeling the pinch.

Gluttony and arrogance have never received an ounce of respect from me, and their 'hardships' receive no pity.

While I agree that there are many people that are much worse off than the rich and there is no need to feel sorry for them, I've never understood why people hate the rich so much in this country? Is it jealousy?? I'm sure if any poor or middle class people had the chance to trade lifestyles, many of them would (I'm sure there are also people who wouldn't care)

This article just goes to show how stupid it is to target one class for taxes. The rich already pay most of the taxes in this country and they also offer most of the jobs. I'm just wondering at what point will the wealthy and corporations say enough is enough and pack up and leave. Then we will be in real trouble. There are people already denouncing their U.S. citizenship and leaving the country because of taxes (Congress is working to try and make it so that you can't do this or at least pay a hefty tax on your assets as a penalty)

A perfect example is the issue of social security in the upcoming election. Obama wants to raise the payroll tax and increase taxes on the highest income bracket (and who knows where McCain stands). 85% of the people in the highest income bracket are small business owners that employ other people. An increase in these taxes will be a real burden for them and their only choice will be to lay people off especially in an economy that is struggling as bad as ours is now.

Just my 2 cents. By the way I am not wealthy, far from it...

Here is what is scary. We all think we know what the politicians mean when they refer to "the wealthy." But do you realize that if your family has 2 income earners and you are making a combined income over $100,000, you are amongst the group that the politicians like to refer to as "wealthy?" Only 10% of this country makes over $100,000 a year, yet think about it. How many of you out there have 2 income earners and are either making over $100,000 now or are looking forward to the day you will?

Ah, but I'd venture to bet that it's on the more liberal side of politicians who consider $100K to be the threshold for "wealth".

I think folks who like to tax the wealthy as a "punishment" for their success, as well as to try to make the poor feel good, consider "wealthy" to be as small a number as possible.

Also, in NJ, we're getting by but not thriving, on over $110 a year. In some areas, that'd buy a LOT of wealthy lifestyle but not here.

Blaming the wealthy is a common practice, yet, if not for wealthy people, how many of us would have a job to begin with?
