Lieqiang, wow, I did not realize that the Belarus army was so small. I just expected that a decades long dictator would have put much of his nation's wealth into a larger military. I am kind of surprised.
I suspect they let the military get so small because the regime’s relationship was cozy enough with Moscow that they expected he Moscow would bail them out if the proletariat started getting too uppity.
Problem now is that Moscow’s busy with their extra special deNazification training exercise right now and not providing much help to countries they were theoretically part of their mutual air group. (See also: the resumption of Armenia-Azerbaijan festivities) so Lukashenko has to tread very carefully to make sure he can successfully brutally oppress another uprising of the proletariat, who are currently seeing few advantages and a lot of downsides for being allied with a Russia conducting extra special deNazification training exercise right now.
So a lot of the reason why Belarus hasn’t crossed borders yet would be because there’s concern about maintains domestic stability if they do.

Belarus has 10 million people, Ukraine has 45 million. Also, after 2014, Ukraine was beefing up its army, as it expected war with Russia. Belarus was not expecting war with anybody. So why have a big military?

That ban now requires banks to freeze funds for companies on that list and suspend services to their accounts.
Says a person who claims that Ukraine attacked Russia.
