Nonsense. Never happened. And aide package was passed. Aide is never paid back.

But it is amusing to watch and listen to the "Folks who will believe anything" react to it.

As for billions of dollars forgiven, that should be a solid no!

This, however, is real (LINK):
Renaud Foucart, a senior economics lecturer at Lancaster University, pointed to the dire economic situation facing Russia.
  • Russia's economy can't afford to win or lose the war in Ukraine.
  • That's because Russia can't afford the cost of rebuilding and securing Ukraine.
  • The cost of repairing its own nation is already "massive."
Russia assumed Ukraine would roll over and play dead, as some posters suggest. Unfortunately for Russia that has not happened. The article opines Russia's best hope is to become dependent upon China. That's not much hope, I don't think, but it does explain China's interest in the war as well as China's lack of strong support for Russia.

Well, according to this, the announcement did happen:

Now, this particular link mentions only the "10 years of financial support"

Trump says he supports the Ukraine Aid bill because it's a loan do you agree with Trump?

The WH might as well just annex Ukraine at this point.

I have mixed feelings about Ukraine aid.

For one thing, I'm not sure Ukraine is all in. AFAICT, they never mobilized ever military aged male. You see young men dancing is discos in the west while other young men die in the east. Is this a nation fighting for its life?

Secondly, and related to the first item, it is possible Ukraine doesn't want to mobilize every military aged male because they can't afford to. Both Ukraine and Russia are a demographic disaster. Birth rates in both nations are way down. As of 2023, the number of military aged males (age 15 to 30), is:

Ukraine: 2 million
Russia: 12 million

That's bad for Ukraine.

Thirdly, Russia is on a war footing, Ukraine is not. Russia is producing artillery shells 24/7. They have produced perhaps tens of thousands of shells in the past year. Ukraine has not. They must have foreign aid.

Zelenskyy says his biggest problem is manpower. I suspect he expects NATO to bail him out and that means mostly U.S. troops. You want WWIII? That's how you get WWIII.

The world benefits when Putin fails and his military is diminished. But the US is in no position to do it at this point. It could bankrupt us.

Are you suggesting that it isn't real that Biden is trying to lock in aid to Ukraine for 10 years?

Or it's not real that Ukraine canceled elections, canceled opposition parties, canceled media that doesn't regurgitate Zelensky's talking points, etc?

Russia would be foolish to try and occupy all of Ukraine.

Per the WSJ they would have ended the war at the very start of it with no new land had Ukraine agreed to not join NATO.

At this point China cannot afford to get too involved. In a few years it would be different but they are too dependent on The West currently.

Quietly backpaddling on sanctions.....

"Treason" or "victory"?

“The United States has allowed Russian banks to conduct transactions related to energy. The license was issued for transactions with oil, gas, uranium, timber, coal and other types of fuel until November 1, 2024 with the possibility of extension.

The license mentions the banks VTB, Alfa Bank, Sberbank, Otkritie, Sovcombank, Rosbank, VEB-RF, Zenit and Bank St. Petersburg, as well as the regulator Central Bank."
