Trying to destroy Russia is going to wind up fruitless...not only that it will be costly. Already has been. Their nation isn't going to disappear. Their resources will still be needed. We (The US) have already damaged our own customer's trust in our misguided quest to destroy Russia. I will say we have increased our gas sales and destroyed the Russian pipeline so I guess some would say that is a big enough win to justify our involvement.

Well, I'd suspect the eventual surrender will likely be on many if not most of the Russian's terms.

Ukraine will fight as long as they wish. As you have heard, the US is no longer supplying war materiel - or didn't you hear?
Since being Ukrainain is pointed out by Medevdev as being a fatal choice, Ukraine being back by USA, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, France, UK, Ireland, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Portugal, Greece, Italy, Spain, Israel, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and Japan has actually killed more Russians that anyone else.
...and look at all that 'support' has brought to Ukraine's people. This could have been settled (On Russian terms granted).
We (The US) may have stopped sending supplies for now, but Biden is pushing hard to continue...and he often gets his way.
We will damage Russia, in the process of destroying Ukraine.

Make Russia small again...
The Bashkirs have stepped it up a notch again. The Bashkirs at the front line have released a video which declares,
There is no honor in fighting for the "Russian world", for a state in which your people are considered cattle and their defenders are imprisoned under invented articles.
We urge all military servicemen from Bashkortostan, Chuvashia, Tatarstan, Mari-El, and in general all national republics to leave the front line, surrender, refuse to fight and not to sign any contracts with the "Ministry of Defense".

Defending "Mother Russia" seems pointless if your wives and your children are being beaten into submission in your absence while you, yourself, are forced to be part of meat assaults.
The population of Bashkortostan is around 4M; Chuvastia is 1.3M; Tatarstan is 4M.

The US and its friends - Canada, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, France, UK, Ireland, Belgium, Netherlands, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Portugal, Greece, Italy, Spain, Israel, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and Japan continue to provide Ukraine with barely enough support. The hope is to slowly bleed Russia to death in a way that allows them to continue to export oil while dying. Russian oil is needed in the world to prevent shortage; Russian gas is not.

Unrest in Bashkorostan is heating up. It is reported that 10s of thousands of protestors are confronting the Russian guard. At issue is freedom of expression. Short article HERE.

Dmitry Medvedev wrote in his Telegram channel that Ukraine should be destroyed as an independent state and that the only option that Russia offers for Ukrainians is to live in an empire.
"The existence of Ukraine is deadly for Ukrainians. And I am not at all referring only to the current state, the Bandera political regime. I am talking about any, absolutely any Ukraine. No matter how much they aspire to the mythical European Union and NATO. When choosing between eternal war and inevitable death and life, the absolute majority of Ukrainians (except for a minimal number of sick nationalists) will eventually choose life. They will realize that life in a big common state, which they do not love much now, is better than death. Their death and the death of their loved ones. And the sooner Ukrainians realize this, the better."
Russia would love to win this war outright. 2023 demonstrated they simply do not have the means to do so. And now, more advanced weapons are being used by Ukraine. 2024 may not be as kind to Russians as they would like.

Chinese and Turkish banks are severing ties with Russian credit organizations, the Russian media reports.
Reportedly, this is happening "because of pressure from the United States." The U.S. Finance Ministry warned in late December that it would sanction foreign banks "supporting Russia's military efforts".

In Turkey, this has led to an almost complete paralysis of export operations to Russia. Sources of the Russian media confirm that almost all major Turkish banks working with Russia are blocking payments, including payments in liras and rubles, and closing accounts for "colleagues" from the Russian Federation.

In China, the problem began in November and became more frequent in December.
Payment to foreign companies for cargo transportation from Russia is delayed by weeks, as money must be transferred to multiple countries before arriving at the proper country.

Meanwhile. the kinetic war has arrived in St Petersburg. Ukrainian drones hit an oil warehouse in St. Petersburg. The military facilities of St. Petersburg and Leningrad region are within the reach of Ukrainian forces.
The UJ-25 jet powered kamikaze drone is now being used by Ukraine. This is a step up from the slower propeller driven models and will be difficult to shoot down.

America could learn a great deal about how to fight a war from Israel.

The way the allies are playing out the war in Ukraine it will go on forever, and will end as every conflict in which we have engaged in the last couple of decades has with the USA either pulling out completely and the aggressor taking that which they want, or it will end in a divided nation with Russia taking what they have and Ukraine living in the smaller geographical area until Russi decides they want more, and they will simply take it.

America has a great military capacity, but we sure don't exert it either threaten with it nor use it to our advantage. We play these silly little "targeted excursions" which accomplish very little.

I support a full military strike against anything which is inside the former Ukraine border. F-16's with our own pilots, anything we have which will push the aggressor back to the original borders. Including getting Russia out of Crimea.

Military Hawk? You bet i am. Watch what Israel does and emulate their approach. (And no, i don't feel any sympathy for the thousands of Palestinians (who deserve a homeland) who are dead after they failed to root out Hamas, and they applauded in the streets as captives were dragged and raped in public spaces).

One difference is that Israel is at war and the U.S. is not. Another difference is Russia has nuclear weapons and Hamas doesn't.

Jan 18 (Reuters) - Estonia has told the head of its branch of the Russian Orthodox Church to leave the country, calling him a threat to national security, Estonian public broadcaster ERR reported on Thursday.

Valeri Reshetnikov, who heads the Estonian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate as Metropolitan Eugene, was refused an extension of his residence permit and will have to leave by Feb. 6, ERR said, citing the country's Police and Border Guard spokesperson.
