Call it whatever you want. It was a brilliant move.

Basically, this stretches and weakens the Russian lines.
The floodwaters may last a week, but the mud and debris will take many months maybe years to clean up.

Exactly. There was NO military benefit to RAF from that flood. Already said that. But keyboard Ludendorfs and coach Rommels only know, what is bullhorned from one side. Xterminate Russia!!!!

So we'll see...
It's worth recalling that the MOD has destroyed every HIMARS system several times over by now. Tehir aim is so exact, they even destroyed a Patriot battery before any were sent to Ukraine. They'll call everything they manage to hit a Leopard for the next many months. Like American tankers in France in 1944, only then it was Tigers. (There are 4 documented encounters between US tankers and Tigers in Normandy.)

There's some impressive imagery of a Russian Ka-52 hitting something claimed to be a Leopard with a missile to be found. Although it's pretty clearly not a tank.

All that being said, eventually they will hit Leopards. They're not magical.

As I said I would withhold any conclusions....we don't know the ramifications of this and as a pro-russian poster stated "Basically, this stretches and weakens the Russian lines". I wouldn't call that Brilliant. It's too early to make any call.

How does that stretch the Russian lines? It shrinks them. The Russians no longer have to defend the line in Kherson. The mud and debris will take care of that for them. The Ukraine has been having a difficult enough time crossing that river, now it will be impossible. The Russians can move their troops from Kherson to Zaporizhia and Donetsk where they are needed.

You know, you are correct. MOF, my favorite Yuri even laughed that it's another shame on MOD for claiming something without proof and I was rather reserved in my post.

But lo and behold, here's video of them being destroyed or, so MOD says:

I can't tell, if it's Leopard, Challenger or T 34 but, I am assuming, knowing how much scrutiny there will be, unless they are complete morons - those are likely the cats.

Again, quoting a pro Putin poster

"You do realize the floodwaters will only last a week, and that by draining the reservoir between the dam and Zaporizhzhia, instead of a wide lake there will be 150 miles of river with islands that will make rapid deployment of mobile pontoon bridges possible. It's simply way too early to make any conclusions one way or another. It looks like Ukraine is on the record of factoring this in to their calculations

The failure or destruction of the #NovaKakhovka dam will cause significant humanitarian issues and it will certainly affect the execution of Ukraine's offense & Russian defensive operations.

UKR has stated they anticipated this potential disaster.
So we don't know if this is Brilliant or Not.

This dam thing...ha ha is just getting wild. This is a good thread pointing out that Russia over did this. That would fall into the stupid category where Russia has been throughout much of this war.

5. Other telegram channels that cooperate with the military are happily hopping on one leg, cheering, because of the undermining of the Kakhovka dam, the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the islands are flooded, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to evacuate and escape, and then they publish joyful reports of how they are hitting the positions of our guys on the islands. 08:25 Link http://archive.ph/c0iHL

6. Here, the Russians are slowly realizing that they have created a large-scale man-made environmental disaster, almost as large as Chernobyl. And they are starting to reverse. Russian influence on the information space is changing its tone dramatically. They instantly change their tune and start accusing the Ukrainian side of provocations. Like it's a Bankova operation A reference to the same "war on fakes" that said the dam had somehow collapsed on its own.... http://archive.ph/x8uwT
But even in their excuses, the racists still screwed up. Either the dam was blown up, or Olha was shelled with MLRS.... http://archive.ph/uF0Xm Although any sapper will give a hundred percent guarantee that it is impossible to make such destruction from the outside, the damage here was done by planting explosives
This is going to take some time and it looks like the counter-offensive is underway.
