Breaking news, you don’t attack the country with the most nukes in the world. Ever.
The alternative is, we must allow nuclear armed nations to do whatever they wish. That's what countries like Iran, who have nuclear ambitions, are counting on.

That would be a pretty dumb policy.

That is the only purpose.
My own opinion is, Russia is already doing everything they can - there can be no escalation, because the various oligarchs have looted the armed services. It was an empty shell all along.

That's an interesting statement. So you're supposed to just roll-over?

Currently, there is no anti drone air defense systems. So there is nothing to pull.
There is not even a reliable system to somehow jam guiding signal as, for GPS and inertial drones, there is none. Jammers work only on remotely guided aerial vehicles.

The bigger question is - where did they fly from? Drones. They came exactly from the west.
Hence, they had to take off the Chernigov region, fly straight up north and then take turn to fly west, into Moscow. What means, flying over the Belarus territory.
More so, only large, 4 meter wingspan drone could, possibly, have enough range to reach the target. Smaller, 3 meter wingspan ones are not capable. This, either they were launched from the Russian territory or, from the larger drones, capable of carrying them.

LOL that's like saying Japan was right to attack Pearl Harbor because the USA responded by attacking them back. What did you think Ukraine was going to do? Lay down their arms and surrender their families to be raped by the invading pillaging horde? I bet that's what the washed up KGB relic Putin thought. He certainly did underestimate them.

Let’s say Putin could use more military muscle but that would be too expensive and wants to wait. How long is Putin going to play this waiting game in Ukraine? Wait until the west gets tired? 2024 election? The more he waits, the more he is risking Russian nationalists inside the country to hand together and take over the government. Putin is practically just sitting there waiting around, drinking vodka, for Ukraine to launch a counteroffensive.

Lobbying several cruise missiles at Kyiv every now and then at apartment buildings to make it seem like the SMO is on-going. This waiting around is going to lead to a lot of trouble for him.

Russia has a population of about 150 million people. They are already tired and worn out. Even when they are taking rest, at least half of them are slowly destroying themselves with vodka. Drugs are also a big problem in Russia (krokodil, fentanyl, heroin, etc). They will tire and their society will collapse long before the west folds and allows Russia to take whatever they want without a fight. Notice that none of Russia's "allies" are willing to commit their own troops to the fight. If that ever changes, I tend to believe Europe and the USA will commit more resources and even bodies to the fight.

The vast majority of the west is united loosely against Russia. But within Russia, it's likely less than half of the population supports the war against Ukraine. This is a huge problem for Putin. He has not succeeded in rallying support for his war, which is why it is doomed to fail the longer it drags on.

I don't think Putin drinks vodka much, if at all. But the majority of Putin's supporters stay drunk on Putin's vodka to get through the miserable reality that is life in Russia. How else (besides using drugs and/or alcohol) could someone support a washed up relic of the failed Soviet regime?

Ordnance on Kyiv is just war, ordnance on Moscow is terrorism. If you're Russian, that makes sense.

Anyway - shades of "You can call me Meyer", for those who know their history.

UAVs of that size can be shot down with 1970s-era AA guns. Ukraine has been using Gepard self-propelled AA to do just that.

A ZSU-23/4 would have no issue taking down a UAV.
