I don't entertain myself with the silly ideas that Russians somehow would be observing the growing threat on their border and accepted it, because that's how America saw it fit.

No, you dont. An action such as an army invading another country is not inevitable. It is a choice.
He was planting “separatists†in those areas. I remember reading about “little green men†appearing in those regions and regions like Crimea. Basically unidentified Russian operatives being planted by Russia.
*Sigh*
Here it is again, from the city of Donetsk on March 1, 2014.
So who "planted" all these people?
Propaganda will tell you about the "little green men" in Crimea, but it wouldn't show you these mass protests against the change of power in Kiev.
So I can't even blame you - you can only believe in what you have been told/shown.

I can partially agree with you, because if someone like Navalny would be in charge of the country ( or anyone ready to serve the American interests,) then yes, this wouldn't make invasion inevitable.
But short of this condition, America was not leaving Russians any options - either to submit under its rule or to contest it and to invade Ukraine.
So may be you are entertaining the first option, and that's why you consider this invasion as not "inevitable" - I don't know.

So you admit the invasion wasnt inevitable. Thank you.
Yes, given the different circumstances and different government.
Like Yeltsin's government for example.
But after the 90ies, this was unrealistic condition.
And that's what made invasion inevitable.
( That's if you want to go for the semantics of it.)
Everything is in the details. As it is, it isnt inevitable that Putin would have ordered an invasion and in the end, the death of 10s of thousands of people.

Ukraine resorting to terror attacks? You mean, the terror attacks Russia has been executing for over a year?
Yeah, Russia' war crimes have been well-documented. The ICC called Putin a war criminal and issued an arrest warrant for him. The EU declared Russia a sponsor of terrorism. No matter how much Russian bots lie, Russia has no equal when it comes to atrocity.
